A lot of YouTubers have started using AI to remake old/classic games. Usually, most of them do not look that great. But once in a while, you encounter an AI remake that has the exact art style and aesthetics of the original game. This AI remake for Final Fantasy 8 is one of them.
Created by FusionVerse Production, this concept art fan remake looks almost exactly like the FMVs of the original game. Every character looks exactly the way you remember them. Squall, Rinoa, Laguna, Ultimacia… everyone looks amazing.
This is easily one of the best AI remakes I’ve ever seen. It looks like the game (but with visuals that can rival its FMV sequences). If I had to guess, I’d say the YouTuber prompted the AI tools to remain as faithful to the FMVs as possible. Or at least that’s my assumption.
Seriously, if you’re a fan of Final Fantasy VIII, I highly recommend watching this video. Since Square Enix has no plans to remake it, this is the closest look we’ll ever get at a true remake.
As with our Donkey Kong Country article, I’m certain some people will cry like little babies. But you know what? You can simply skip this article if it does not interest you. As a bonus, here’s a faithful AI remake of Cadillacs & Dinosaurs. Much like the Final Fantasy 8 remake concept, it looks exactly like what you’d expect from a modern reimagining. The truth is, we’ll never get an official remake like this. Thus, it’s great to see what these classic games might have looked like in 2026. If you’re an old-school gamer, this video will definitely put a smile on your face.
Again, it’s all about the accuracy. The video includes before-and-after scenes, and you can clearly see how closely the AI remake matches the original material. This is something that I’d love to play. And hey, this is exactly what I said about the AI remake of Mortal Kombat I shared a while ago. As a gamer, I don’t care how they achieve visuals like these. All I care about is the final product looking as good as, or even better than, these remakes. And that’s it.
In a way, the people who get so angry about AI are similar to those who used to complain about crunch in the video game industry. A few years ago, many were outraged at studios with a “crunch” culture. It’s ironic, because most of their favorite games, from Doom and Quake to Baldur’s Gate, the classic Grand Theft Auto titles, and Deus Ex, were all made under intense crunch. Yet no one ever complains about those classics, nor do they boycott them. Instead, the outrage is selectively aimed at newer games. Or at games that they do not like. And that, right there, is hypocrisy at its finest.
Anyway, as I’ve said, I don’t plan to bombard you with AI remakes. However, I will keep posting those remakes that can make my jaw drop. And these two are certainly among them.
