TREMEN feature-1

TREMEN is a classic FPS in Unreal Engine 5 that aims to combine modern graphics with old school gameplay

Red Meat Entertainment has released a demo for its new indie first-person shooter, TREMEN. TREMEN is using Unreal Engine 5 and aims to combine modern graphics with old-school gameplay. So, let’s take a closer look at it.

In this new FPS, you play as a freshly created avatar slave trapped in an underground cell, remotely controlled by a young boy who is sending you into battle in a desperate attempt to defeat the mutant overlords who have enslaved humanity for consumption.

You’ll wield a wide arsenal of upgradeable weapons, such as laser guns and shock rifles, as you carve your way through numerous enemies. These include grenade-launching mutant bodybuilders and electricity-shooting, obese dominatrices who stand between you and your mission.

The final version will have 24 brutalistic levels, spread over six different environments. You’ll battle twenty different enemy types, and you will have access to ten upgradable weapons. The game will also have an original heavy metal soundtrack by Closed Grip.

You can go ahead and download the demo from this link. Right now, the demo has Positive reviews on Steam. So, if you are a fan of old-school FPS games, you might want to check it out.

To run the demo, you’ll need an NVIDIA RTX 2060 or an AMD Radeon RX 6000 series. The devs recommend using an NVIDIA RTX 3070, 3080, 4070, or equivalent AMD GPUs.

Now, if you don’t want to download the demo, you can simply watch an older trailer for it. This trailer shows off some of the game’s environments and enemies.

To be honest, TREMEN reminded me of the Tenebrae Mod for the first Quake. For instance, some of the enemies feel out of place. It seems like they do not belong in the environments. And despite that, I find it kind of cool. Gameplay-wise, this is a fast-paced FPS, like the classic ones we’ve been playing in the 90s and 00s.

There is currently no ETA for when the final version will come out.

Stay tuned for more!
