One of the coolest trailers that aired at the New Game Plus event was Dragontwin. Dragontwin is an upcoming open-world RPG/Strategy game in which the player shapes their destiny as a Dragontwin, a legendary mortal soulbound to a powerful dragon.
Dragontwin is an open-world, single-player game where you get to ride and control your own dragon. It mixes RPG and strategy gameplay and lets you be creative with your character and dragon. You can fly high above the world, gather allies, and fight against your enemies. You’ll also be able to upgrade your dragon, take over or free different lands, build your own lair, and create a kingdom of your own. It’s a big medieval fantasy sandbox all about dragons and player choice.
Dragontwin’s dragons will feel alive thanks to a special physics and animation system. Instead of using simple pre-made animations, the game creates natural, heavy, and realistic dragon movements in real time. The developers also say the game will have a deep and detailed creation system.
After you make your character and your dragon, you can travel into large open-world areas from the world map. In these areas, you can fly freely, explore, and interact with the world. You’ll be able to visit settlements, take on quests, experience random events, and enjoy different side activities.
What’s also cool here is that the game will have destructible buildings and environments. The devs are currently exploring how far they can push this while maintaining reasonable framerates. So, let’s hope that it will have massive destruction. Since you can control a giant dragon, the game would benefit from an extensive destruction system.
In Dragontwin, you will be able to command armies from the back of your dragon. The game promises to have epic battles on an enormous scale. You will rain fire from the skies, rally troops to the sound of the Dragon Horn, and incinerate the enemy ranks in a blazing inferno. But beware. Your enemies may field anti-dragon weaponry to shoot you out of the sky, or a hostile Dragontwin that pursues you from the air.
Even though Dragontwin sounds exciting, it’s still in a very early stage of development. There is an Early Access demo, but only for people who support the developers on Patreon. This demo mainly shows off the flying system. Right now, it looks like Dragontwin won’t be releasing anytime soon. The game has a lot of potential, but if the developers can’t get enough funding, it might never be finished.
Enjoy!
