Pathea Games has announced a new Eastern-inspired steampunk open-world RPG, called The God Slayer. The God Slayer will be powered by Unreal Engine 5, and below you can find its debut gameplay trailer.
In The God Slayer, you assume the role of an Elemancer whose family was brutally slain by the Celestials during the God Fall. Now, you must embark on a quest to save your people and avenge your loved ones.
To defeat your enemies, you must learn to control and improve your elemental powers. You’ll unlock new skills from old scrolls and masters, and strengthen the flow of qi inside you. With enough training, you can even stand against powerful Celestials. In this world, the elements will affect each other. For example, fire burns wood, water puts out fire, boiling water creates steam, and earth can block attacks. How you use these elemental reactions in battle will be completely your choice.
The God Slayer takes place mostly in the capital city of the Zhou Kingdom. This city is located at the mouth of two mighty rivers empyting into the Eastern Sea. It is at its height in steam technology, with an assortment of airships, steamboats, monorails, and steam vehicles.
There will be many different factions in the city, and each one cares only about its own goals. To get even a small advantage against the Celestial army and their supporters, you’ll need to make allies, trade favors, and sometimes bribe the right people.
Now, as you will see in the following trailer, the game feels a bit rough around the edges. In my opinion, this is a good thing as it shows that this isn’t a fake pre-rendered demo. What’s cool here is that the trailer shows off some of the ways you can interact with the environment. In my opinion, this will be one of its biggest feature.
There is currently no ETA on when the game will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy!
