The Outer Worlds 2 Hotfix 1.0.4.1 Released – Full Patch Notes

Obsidian Entertainment has released Hotfix 1.0.4.1 for The Outer Worlds 2 and shared its full patch notes. So, let’s see what this new update brings to the table.

Hotfix 1.0.4.1 fixes crashes that happened every time you tried to load a save with bad data in your favorited items. It also fixes several rare crashes. The Plug Puller Perk will now work correctly and won’t stop encounters from continuing. Plus, your conversation history will no longer reset randomly during gameplay, and cleared parts of the map will stay cleared.

This update also fixes some quest issues. For example, players who had trouble with Inez after meeting her at the Ministry of Accuracy can now continue her argument with Milverstreet. Inez will also play her correct intro dialogue when you first meet her, instead of sometimes using her normal companion lines. Lastly, Otto’s Lock in Free Market Station now works properly and can be solved.

Hotfix 1.0.4.1 will also fix two additional quests. These two quests contain spoilers, so I won’t list them. If you want to read more about them, you can do so here.

Like always, Steam will download this hotfix the next time you launch its client. Below, you can also find its changelog.

Stay tuned for more!

Critical Fixes

  • Fixing saves crashing on load 100% of the time if bad data gets into the favorited item data.
  • Fixed several rare crashes.
  • (PS5 only) Fixed crash when game was started with only PlayGo chunk installed, and user progressed past Horizon point station.
  • Plug Puller Perk no longer prevents encounters from advancing.
  • Players will no longer have their conversation history reset at unexpected times during gameplay.
  • Cleared out portions of the map will no longer be reset.

Quests/Progression:

  • Players who encountered problems with Inez after meeting her at the Ministry of Accuracy should be able to progress her argument with Milverstreet now, even if they could not before.
  • Inez will now reliably play her intro dialogue lines when first encountering her in the Ministry of Accuracy, instead of on rare occasions playing her standard companion conversation.
  • OA Troopers no longer appear in the ACHQ at an unintended time. Loading a save from before fighting these units will allow players to progress the quest as intended.
  • Note: Players must load a save before the bug occurred. We are investigating solutions for a retroactive fix.
  • Otto’s Lock in Free Market Station is now working as intended and can be solved.

Audio/Visual

  • PS5 Pro now uses TSR for upscaling to address blurry grass on Paradise Island and unexpected lighting noise across the game.
  • Double jump boots no longer play audio at double volume.
  • (Xbox only) Fixed an issue that can cause some blue noise on the edges of grass and computer monitors.

    1. It's worse than that, the satire is flat and trite, the humor is impossibly unfunny, and it never lets up.
The dialogue and voice acting are horrible, it's like they went out of their way to find untalented people. But I guess that's DEI…

  1. It's just a shame they made all the humanoid companions ugly as fuçk!

Maybe I can kill them all when I play the free demo… after a few more patches.

P.S. "Modern audience" Obsidian can go suck a fat one!

  2. Laughable sales numbers, the AAA price for a AA style games… along with the slideshow engine UE5's atrociously bad performance vs whats on screen… what can go wrong!

    1. First of all, there are no sales data and relying on Steam is ridiculous because most people play with Game Pass.
If I base it on how many gameplay videos there are on YouTube and Twitch by doing a search, the game did better than Avowed too, which after a month has sold so well that they will make new DLC content and a new chapter.

  3. Laughable sales numbers, the AAA price for a AA style games… along with the slideshow engine UE5's atrociously bad performance vs whats on screen… what can go wrong!

    1. I have no problem and the game runs even better now in the main city of the first island I went from 90fps to 110fps

  4. i like it i am at 15 hours ! Unlike many idiots who comment on these pages calling every game a piece of junk, I buy the titles and try them out.

    1. well its true its absolute garbage made by people who think there is a audience for slop ,its unfunny , its gameplay is terrible , the story is just the same , its filled with political propaganda !
If they aren't afraid of what their game is , they should release a demo.

They hate me , they hate you i don't see why you defend such people , makes no sense to me.

  5. The game's been alright so far. I think it's a better RPG than the first or Avowed but I think I realize what I really liked about New Vegas was the history and world that the game is based in. With so many ties to actual history but still making allegories for the fiction you take part in, the game's story and quests have another layer of familiarity that most general space or high fantasy rpgs get too far away from.
