Hollow Knight Silksong feature

First Patch for Hollow Knight: Silksong Released in Beta

Team Cherry has released the first patch for Hollow Knight: Silksong. This update is available on PC via the beta branch, so let’s take a look at all its tweaks, fixes, and improvements.

This first update makes a few changes. For instance, Sandcarvers now do less damage to you. The prices of the Bellway and Bell Bench are a little lower. Moreover, you now get more rosary rewards from courier deliveries. Plus, the pea pod collider scale has been slightly increased.

It’s also worth noting that this patch slightly reduces the difficulty in early game bosses Moorwing and Sister Splinter. This is something that a lot of players have complained about. Silksong does not have a setting to adjust its difficulty. Yes, there are already some “Easy Mods” you can download on PC. Still, it’s good to see the devs doing something about it.

This first update for Silksong also fixes several bugs. For example, it fixed a bug where players could lose their cloak after the Slab escape sequence. It also fixed a bug where players could get stuck floating after down-bouncing on certain projectiles. Craft Bind now works correctly while in memories. Wish Infestation Operation can now be completed in the late game. And, Silk Snippers in Chapel of the Reaper will no longer get stuck out of bounds.

To access the update, you’ll need to opt into the beta branch on Steam. Once you’ve done that, Steam will automatically download it. Below, you can find the complete changelog.

      1. Because your vision as dev is worth more than any majority and unless the difficulty is really broken you should keep it as it is

      2. The majority is fine with the difficulty, it were Japanese and Chinese player who started review bombing due to the difficulty.

  1. "Team Cherry has released the first patch for its upcoming Hollow Knight: Silksong. "
i think you made a mistake here , the game is already out , what do you mean by upcoming ?

  2. I don't see much of a point in putting souls like difficulty in a metroidvania. Super Metroid, Castlevania where not like this. I'll probably play this game in the future, i made the mistake of playing the Original on release date and getting soft locked due to bugs.

          1. Ah yes, i believe it was some item to unlock true ending or something or maybe some item to progress further, i’m not sure.

  3. "for its upcoming Hollow Knight: Silksong"

John: I don't know what the F is going on because it's an indie game that doesn't run on UE5 and doesn't have RT

  4. I've come around on patching. I used to think it was caving and compromising to crybabies but there are times where I think a dev can see that enough people are complaining that it's obfuscating other parts of the game they want players to experience. I think there is an intended experience and if through adjustments or reassessment that something is not working that it's a determined a change needs to be made to even improve the project. I was one of the chosen few to beat pre-patch consort radahn but he's still pretty tough afterwards and I don't think he's that much worse off. Team cherry have made 2 great titles and im sure whatever they patch will still end up with a similarly great experience.

  5. Every Japanese and Chinese review was whining about the difficulty. They started review bombing and reviews started taking a nosedive.

Imo, they should just give Asia an easier version and leave the Western release untouched.

    1. You do know that:

      1. They were actually review bombing it out of poor localization and not due to difficulty?

      2. That it was only the Chinese players review bombing it and not Japanese players?

      3. That East Asians are some of the most hardcore players out there and not as idiotic and casual like these lo󠀀w I󠀀Q Western p󠀀e󠀀do h󠀀om󠀀os󠀀ex󠀀ual t󠀀ra󠀀n󠀀nies and ge󠀀n󠀀o󠀀cide-con󠀀do󠀀ners such as yo󠀀ur󠀀s󠀀el󠀀f?

John, it seems like you are ruining your own site by trafficking some lo󠀀w I󠀀Q su󠀀bh󠀀um󠀀ans in here by spreading dumb and completely unnecessary news of this generic and overrated game.

      1. Latest 4 Chinese Silksong reviews. All crying about the difficulty.

        为难人就为了难人?简直是胡扯。
Making things difficult for the sake of difficulty? That's just crap.

        感觉打这作确实是在朝圣
Playing this game really feels like a pilgrimage.

        原神打过深渊还知道给点原石呢,打完boss给点珠子怎么了?
Genshin Impact rewards players with Primogems after clearing the Abyss, so why not give some Orbs after defeating the boss?

        这游戏的受众是谁啊,一点不考虑普通玩家的游戏体验吗
Who is this game targeting? Don't they care at all about the gaming experience for regular players?

        1. Wow, so 4 no-name people on the internet (whose reviews are gonna be buried in just a few hours from now) represent over 1,000,000,000 people? You must be an intellectual and well-experienced in every single thing in life to know about this type of info! Mind blown!

      2. East Asians are some of the most hardcore players

You're clearly some weeb who's never been there.

The most popular games in Japan are life sims and cat collecting games, or mobile pokemon games like café remix.

They prefer hyper casual games on mobile and they always whine on sakuhinjp that Western games are too difficult.

        Western t󠀀ra󠀀n󠀀nies

I bet you'd have a breakdown if you only knew how many movies featuring trannies are made in Japan. They have a whole dedicated section for this stuff in certain… shops…due to its popularity.

        1. 1.

The most popular games in Japan are life sims and cat collecting games, or mobile pokemon games like café remix.

They prefer hyper casual games on mobile and they always whine on sakuhinjp that Western games are too difficult.

Something being popular in a certain region does not automatically make it the "only" popular thing there. In almost every region there is, there will always be these re󠀀ta󠀀rd󠀀ed no󠀀rmies and casuals who only play the most mainstream no󠀀rmie s󠀀hi󠀀t there is and then call themselves "gamers!" making up the majority of the total revenue there. That doesn't automatically mean that actual games (not mobile or online trashes) don't sell there.

In fact, over 10 years ago when I was in school, most of the ret󠀀arde󠀀d, l󠀀ow I󠀀Q and extre󠀀mely cri󠀀n󠀀ge schoolmates there only know about the most extremely mainstream nor󠀀mie sh󠀀it out there like COD, FIFA, GTA and nothing else and then call themselves "gamers!", and if you ask them about who is Mario, they would outright not even know what is even Mario (I'm not saying they don't play Mario, I'm saying they don't even know Mario, regardless of whether they like it or not). I'm sure if you were to ask someone in school about what games does he play in 2025, 99% of them would say that they only play s󠀀h󠀀i󠀀t like PUBG, Fortnite, Overwatch, and other online trashes and then calls himself a "gamer".

That's the no󠀀rmie mindset, and these cringe and lo󠀀w I󠀀Q subhumans exist in pretty much every single region there is. Do you know that over 50% of all people who only play on their phones and not on console or PC are wa󠀀hmen? And they include these wa󠀀hmen among the statistics saying "wa󠀀hmen make up for over 50% of all gamers in the world!"? Since when did these extremely cringe and lo󠀀w IQ subhumans who only play a trash on the App Store or Google Play just once before deleting it become "gamers"?

          2. I'm not a weeb. I may not be the world's #1 weeb hater (because hating weeb things isn't uncommon, it's very common actually), but sh󠀀it like Gens󠀀hit Impact not only makes me want to vomit, it makes me want to gouge my eyes out because of how extremely cringe and cancerous its characters are, so does anything that features these cancerous "stereotypical anime girls" designs, whether it's an anime or even a game.

  6. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
    -price: $80
    -current player count: 3,935

    Silksong.
    -price: $20
    -current player count: 293,621

    Some basic facts:
-Kojima is a talentless hack and never made a single good game.
-The Metal Gear franchise sucked and had 0 replay value.
-Unreal Engine sucks and no one gives a **** about raytracing.
-If it wasn't for indie games that run on potato PC, PC gaming would be dead.
-No one cares about RTX5090 benchmarks.
    -Gameplay always beats graphics.

    1. Some basic corrections:

      – Kojima is someone who does the games he likes the way he want to do and not the way the market dictates and that's very respectable in today's industry.
      – Wrong: Replay value has never been a necessary element for a good game and Wrong again because some MGS games have great replay value.
      – Yeah UE sucks and most people don't give a F about RT but both have room for improvement in the future.
      – Indie games are contributing for the success of PC gaming but are NOT the main reason for it.
      – I agree
      – I agree
