Team Cherry has announced that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be released on September 4th. To celebrate this announcement, the team shared the game’s first proper gameplay trailer, which you can find below.
In Hollow Knight: Silksong, players will travel through many different places, like coral forests, mossy caves, golden cities, and misty swamps, all while climbing toward a glowing citadel high above the world.
The game is full of fast and dangerous action. Players will have new acrobatic moves to fight enemies in exciting and stylish battles. They can also craft powerful tools, like weapons, traps, and special gadgets, that will help them beat tough enemies and reach new areas.
With every step, players will build a growing arsenal, making them stronger as they explore higher and higher into this mysterious world.
The game promises to have a lot of quests. Players will hunt down rare beasts, solve ancient mysteries, and search for lost treasures to fulfil the wishes of the downtrodden and restore the kingdom’s hope. According to the devs, you’ll face over 150 all-new foes. You’ll also experience a stunning new orchestral score.
Team Cherry has also shared the game’s official PC requirements. PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core 2 Duo E5200 with 4GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX. Silksong will use the DX10 API, and it will require 9GB of free disk space.
The devs recommend using an Intel Core i5 with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560.

Soulslike and Metroidvania are garbage genres.
Difficult content has its place, in MMOs it fosters teamwork, it has a specific purpose.
But Soulslikes and Metroidvania are single player games that use difficulty to hide the fact these genres lack content and have one-dimensional combat. They have a toxic relationship with the player, they rely on repetition to make up for a lack of content.
The games are often highly reviewed, because we know dopamine hits are stronger after repetitive failures. They're playing tricks on the psyche of the player, including reviewers. Soulslikes and Metroidvania are almost exclusively played by men, men are very competitive in nature, highly susceptible to these dopamine hits.
It's funny that you went on on a entire rant about the genres and seemingly don't know nothing about it. The Metroidvania genre as a whole has no recognition for it's difficulty, that's only Hollow Knight and even then it's kinda of a strech.
I don't understand all the hype around this game. I grew up on these platformers and I'd still pick Metroid 3 on SNES over any of this. I really wish I could understand the insane fandom that this game has/is generating.
And the funny thing is that the dev lied when it spewed that it didn't play Dark Souls when it made this overrated POS game just to sound "edgy and cool!" by spewing that it's all just a BIG (((Cohencidence))) that it resembles that garbage game, not only in aesthetics, but also in mechanics, when it's more than clear that Dark Souls is a main inspiration for this POS that nowhere deserves that amount of idiotic fandom with pRedditor IQ it got.

The name of the game is production values. Metroid 3 doesn't have hand drawn animations or high resolution drawings, Hollow Knight did. Not liking the game shoudn't blind you of understanding why it's sucessful.

I could try replaying the original, but if i wanted to play the sequel, i would be just burned out by the time it came out. Maybe in the past i was more open to play several games of a franchise, but i think i can't do that today.
I booted up the game last night before the W games, got through the first boss and I realized why I never got around to it sooner. I really dislike platformers/metroidvanias lol and I just forget that to the hype every once in a while. Guacamelee was the only one I could stomach because of the comedy and i ended up forcing myself through the sequel because by the time I realized I was hating it it I was already basically done with the game. I hope everyone else has fun with the sequel while I start huffing copium for vampire 2.
Have you played any of the classics like Super Metroid, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Metroid 2 Remake? Hollow Knight does have a high skill ceiling due to his soulslike inspirations.
I did beat Metroid Fusion but never returned to it after the first run. I did try a game in the Castlevania but never really liked the way the whip had it’s wind-up. Now that you do mention it I do see more of the similarity to Casltevania specifically. It’s just weird to me because I have enjoyed those kinds of side scrollers in the past like Strider and the Megaman Zero series but Hollow Knight still just feels foreign.
Soulslike Metroidvania is interesting in regards that they put the challange and difficulty of classic side scrollers inside a metroidvania. I’m not sure i like this aspect, there’s a reason metroidvanias are more easier than the classics.

For those wondering why this POS franchise got so much attention than what it actually deserves, it's because it has f4ggotry in it.
Just look at Undertale for example, it does have f4ggotry, that's why the gayming journalists hyped it above a skyscraper and listed it among the so-called "greatest games of all time!" countless times to the point that even its creator was surprised of the popularity it got, when in reality it's basically just a game that you beat for 2 playthroughs at max (assuming that you actually liked your first playthrough), move on and never go back to it. I personally never played it more than a single playthrough for a decade now.
Or TLOU2, which at least half all of the fans of the previous game panned it and review bombed it to death to the point that it literally was the reason that drove (((Metacritic))) to make user reviews wait for a day and a half before they can post reviews to defend that garbage Jewish indoctrination (its creator is literally Jewish).
Or probably Dragon Age The Veilguard which the paid gayming journalists defecated that it's a "gOoD gAyMe!!!" in an attempt to groom your children and indoctrinate them with this Jewish Satanism.
In an example of games that WEREN'T hyped by these gayming journalists because they DON'T have f4ggotry in them, look at Omori for example (it may not be your cup of tea depending on your taste); it's a game that you would've already seen it in countless "greatest games of all time" lists and the entire internet would've been talking about it nonstop by now IF it had f4ggotry in it like Undertale does. But it doesn't, that's why the gayming journalists didn't hype it to death and make the entire internet talk about it like it did with that stupid Undertale.
Just do yourself a favor and play Omori, it may not look that appealing on the surface, but it will blow your mind with its surreal ideas when you actually try it like it did with me. In fact, I've been saying this for a while now; if there was just one LAST game you had to play before you die or before you quit gaming, let it be Omori. But please, don't spoil it for yourselves if you're going to play it because there are spoilers EVERYWHERE for it.
I don't remember any explicit f4ggotry in the original Hollow Knight, i mean maybe it had something hidden in the lore that only nerds care about, and being a game about insects it may happen to have those weird reproductive crap that insects are know for. It's mostly a 30 hour long metroidvania with good production values, i think that helped make the game famous more than lgbt crap.

Yes, do yourself a favor and check it out. I personally have very high standards, there are so many games where I've set expectations before playing them, and this is literally the only game I've ever played that not only exceeded my expectations, it FAR EXCEEDED my expectations.
As a general rule of thumb to avoid spoilers, do not type its name even on search engines, and if you do, lock away from the search predictions to avoid unintentionally stumbling upon spoilers. And as another rule of thumb, STAY THE FURTHEST AWAY from its JewTube and especially (Reddit) communities, because these sites are toxic cancer cesspools of activists pretending to be gamers and don't represent any game's fandoms, whether it's Omori or any other game. If you have to, just watch videos like tips and tricks, secrets or walkthrough videos AFTER you finish the game if there's an info you need to know and that's it. Don't watch anything else.
By all means, go ahead and play it if you have the time for it (but DON'T rush through it, take your time). It's the most impactful game ever made to the point that it's literally the only game that made me want to DO something in real life after playing it because of how impactful it is, and that is making friends. No other game emphasized friendship as much as this game did, and even if whatever game did emphasize friendship, it's of course none other than "the power of friendship!" cliche, which this game doesn't have that cliche.
Yeah i did get the passion you have for this game, which picked my curiosity, played a bit up to the first save game so far, and only watched one trailer.
As someone who beat the game once and only wishes if I could replay it more if I had more free time, I don't recommend watching the trailers for it before playing it as they don't do the game justice. In fact, they may mislead you into thinking that the game is more of a joke or comedy horror when it's completely the opposite of the latter (it does have a great sense of humor that made me burst out of laughter though, especially the prologue of it). I only recommend watching the trailers for it after beating it.
Also an advice from someone who played the game; it may look like it's for children, but take it from me, children are especially the ones who SHOULDN'T be playing it. Don't want to say why as they're major spoilers (it's not "one" reason, it's multiple reasons why children shouldn't be playing it).
Regarding its horror and as a post-trauma survivor who was seriously considering committing suicide due to my mental health a decade ago in 2015-2017 (but thankfully got past it long ago since 2018), one comment in one of the old trailers (that I couldn't find it upon looking it up just now, but I'll say its meaning here) that I couldn't agree more because that's what the game would have done to me, but did not had I not played it with someone who already played it sitting next to me and acting as a guider for me (it almost did nonetheless despite playing it with a guider):

One last pro-tip (hopefully) from someone who played it:
On your first playthrough, MAKE SURE TO GET THE GOOD ENDING!
Like most RPGs, choices have outcomes and can affect the ending (knowing that there multiple endings is not a spoiler as the game's description on Steam clarifies that your choices will decide your fate and perhaps the fate of others as well). The game intentionally doesn't tell you what choice will ultimately lead to what ending you'll get.
While keeping it as least spoilers as possible on how to get the good ending:
The game is roughly 25-30 hours to beat. 1 hour into the game (depending on how you play it), a boy will wake up in the middle of the night where you'll play for a short sequence, and someone will be knocking on the door, whether you open the door or not does not affect the outcome. However, roughly 4 hours in, the boy will wake up at morning, and someone will be knocking on the door, this choice whether to open the door or not already affects what the ending will be. In other words, if you made the wrong choice, you still have 20-25 hours ahead to complete the game, and you've already locked yourself away from the good ending.
However, even if you made the right choice at the door, it is not yet guaranteed that you'll get the good ending, in fact, you can still get the worst ending, even if you were on your way to get the good ending. This is perhaps the very first game that has a story-based choice (other than like killing enemies or people) early on that already affects what the ending will be about for the remainder of the +25 hours of the game.
Why do I recommend getting the good ending? Because what happens in anything other than the good ending is just so extremely fucked up. This is the very first game that I loved to death, and I intentionally spoiled the other endings for myself, and I'm glad to do so (yes, you've read that right, gladly spoiled it for myself). As I was playing the game, my guider already told me during my playthrough that any ending other than the good ending is a bad ending despite what the fans (unofficially) call them, and I couldn't agree more that all endings other than the good ending is a bad ending after seeing them.
In fact, as per what the Steam achievements statistics say (don't look at the achievements, they contain major spoilers of course), nearly 32% people got the good ending achievement while the people who got the achievements for the other endings combined are roughly 26.6%. Yeah, THAT'S how much the other endings are beyond fucked up.
My personal opinion about the game: The game tries too hard to make you get anything other than the good ending. Why? Because later on (after the door), some choices affect the what the ending will be, and if you made just one wrong choice at any of them, you've locked yourself away from the good ending.
If maybe you're too concerned, I can tell you what's the right choice at the door, like maybe when you get there or like right now. Anyone who isn't too simple-minded can guess the right choice.

As I said, the first thing that affects the ending is when Sunny wakes up in the morning roughly 4 hours in.
FYI, the critical choices that affect the ending are not like +100 or even 10 choices, IIRC (since the game was very, very long), they're only like 3-5 choices, which some of these choices are very, very far into the game (which I prefer not saying what they are for now to avoid spoilers).
However, the "second" choice (IIRC) is pretty much the same as the first choice at the door (and is very, very far ahead from the first choice at the door), just choose the same as you did when Sunny wakes up in the morning.
Also, since you said that you reached when Sunny woke up in the night, I forgot to tell you something; Since Basil was kidnapped by that floating black eye at this point, Basil told you to take care of his flowers and water them before he was kidnapped at that point. Did you pay attention to that?
While whether you water his flowers or not does not affect the ending, MAKE SURE TO GO BACK TO THEM AND CONSTANTLY WATER THEM AFTER EACH BOSS FIGHT! Because after each boss fight, you'll notice when you go back that some of his flowers are about to die so you have to water them to prevent them from dying, and if just one of his flowers died, you'll miss out on something important if one of his flowers died (which I only recommend looking up what's "that" thing you would've missed out after beating the game). Also, watering Basil's flowers buffs Omori and the other party member's health by 1 point for each flower you watered, so it isn't just that "thing" you would've missed out that makes watering Basil's flowers pretty important.

Writing it in a separate comment (since this is gonna be a long comment):
As a general tip on how to get the good ending, and how I personally would have very likely still got the good ending nonetheless even I didn't play it with a guider (since even he got the good ending on his first playthrough); be an empathic person.
I'm an empathic person, so much to the point that I sometimes care about others even more than I care about myself. The game may deceive you into thinking that you are "putting yourself into danger!" when you making certain choices, but in reality, these choices only show that you are actually caring about your friends when you made them.
This is probably a likely explanation on why the Steam achievements have that much people getting the bad endings, because it is very likely that they were deceived into thinking that they are "shielding themselves from danger!" than they are "intentionally" choosing to be bad people.
A very important thing to note that I only noticed just now, all of the choices that affect the ending are when you play as Sunny and NOT Omori. IIRC, the sections when you play as Omori do not have even a single choice that affects the ending no matter how long they sometimes can be and no matter how many non-critical choices they can have.
Also regarding the sections when you play as Omori; each time you collect a keyboard letter, some of them (or maybe all of them? Can't really remember) will leave broken holes behind them. Make sure to interact with these holes after you collect the keys to see additional animated cutscenes and short playable sections (they give you insights for your latter playthroughs of the game since the game is designed with replayability in mind. You will not understand what they mean on your first playthrough, but you will eventually understand what they mean when you collect them on your latter playthroughs. These cutscenes and playable sections when you interact with these holes can indeed be very horrifying, but they ultimately do not affect the ending at all no matter what you do in them or whether you interact with them or not)
EDIT: Also, do keep in mind that, even if you ultimately get the good ending, you will still see extremely horrifying things nonetheless during the route to the good ending to the point that I was constantly asking my guider if I messed something up. Even when he was constantly reassuring me that I didn't mess something up, I still constantly kept asking him to reassure me that I didn't mess something up to get the good ending because of how horrifying the game is.
I mean, Undertale is not a BAD game (in fact, there are some good moments and some pretty interesting stuff in it, and its OST is just SO good actually), it's just that it's not only massively overrated (and as already stated, even its creator was surprised by its extreme popularity), it got so much attention than what it's actually worth to the point that it became so extremely invasive to the point that it invaded so many other fandoms like the Mother fandom and of course the Omori fandom, the Smash fandom (officially, Smash Ultimate had Undertale DLCs like costumes and remixed OSTs) and some other fandoms that I can't remember for now.
I even remember when it was new in 2015, it briefly invaded the Splatoon fandom and people were making entire crossover animations despite the two games having LITERALLY NOTHING IN COMMON other than the two games being new and popular franchises released just a couple of months away from each other. One game is a TPS and the other is an RPG and they still had to make entire stupid animations over it solely for being new and despite having nothing in common. Let that sink in.
Just FYI, Omori has literally nothing in common with Undertale other than being Mother-inspired RPGs, in fact and as someone who played Undertale a decade ago, as soon as I started the game, I immediately noticed that it has nothing in common with Undertale, and by the time I finished the game, there was still nothing in common between the two.
Hello! Just a slight correction on what I said regarding watering Basil's flowers after each boss fight. I more specifically meant after each major boss fight that Basil's flowers will start dying and you'll need to water them.
For example, early on (in this "4 hours" that I mentioned), you'll fight a "mid-boss" called the Download Window (my favorite "mid-boss" due to its cool OST and it personally making me laugh at it). However, after this Download Window boss, you'll fight the first major boss of that section.
THAT is when you should go back to water Basil's flowers, as I personally didn't return to water his flowers after any "mid-boss" and I still ultimately didn't miss out on what you get if you water all of his flowers.

I have personally never even thought I specifically like quirky RPGs. I personally play any game if its general looks and ideas are interesting enough to grab my attention.
Also, you mentioned that you just beat Captain Spaceboy. Assuming you go for the main objective now (hint: after each main boss, you'll see blood trails on the ground. These blood trails lead you to the next major main objective), the section when Sunny wakes up in the morning should be just around the corner.
Little Goody Two Shoes have a similar structure as Omori: light, funny game segments mixed with dark tone game segments, which i find really interesting all things considered. I played thru the real life segment of the game (3 days left) and i’m back in “head space”, not sure when i pick it up to play again, maybe later today or tomorrow.
No worries, take your fullest time to play it, this is one of those games where you are supposed to take your fullest time with it to enjoy it and NOT rush through it. In fact, I even remember early on when I played the game for the first few hours, I was rushing through it because I was VERY busy with life stuff, and I honestly felt that I'd rather NOT play the game than rush through the game and RUIN the experience for me.

What's "that part" in Omori? Sweetheart's Castle, and it's so freaking long. At least it's not THE longest section in the game.
It's the literal worst, cringiest part out of the entire game; what happens is very cringe, the music is also just as cringe, so cringe that I had to mute the game's volume and still never missed out even a single important thing when it comes to the audio.
It's so bad that it may unfortunately cause some people to drop the game midway despite me ultimately loving the overall game so much. It's just SO bad that it was the very first time in my whole life that, believe it or not; remember these holes that the keyboard keys leave behind once you take them that I talked about in the previous comment? I personally found that short horror section in Sweetheart's Castle to be rather relieving. At least it briefly took me away from that cringe section and put me into a serious situation before once again going back to that cringe section. Imagine thinking that going to a horrifying place to be rather relieving. Yeah, it's THAT bad despite the overall game being very good to me. And unfortunately and IIRC, there's only one hole in the entirety of Sweetheart's Castle.
It's not only Sweetheart's Castle that is bad, but even Sweetheart herself is just SO BAD. She's the literal most hated character in the entire game, an opinion that is very, VERY common in the Omori fandom. There's no contestant on who's the worst character in Omori other than Sweetheart so much to the point that there's a thread titled "Name one good thing about Sweetheart." What did the top comment say? "She's good at making you hate her."
Yeah, she, alongside her entire section are THAT bad.
However, please endure that stupid section and DON'T DROP THE GAME BECAUSE OF IT! You will miss out on VERY VERY VERY MUCH on what the game has to offer later on if this section made you drop the game, because you still have SO MUCH overall playtime ahead of it. And yes, even my guider also agrees that this is the literal worst part of the entire game.
Is that part bad because of cringe writing or level design stuff? Speaking of “that part”, i’m also playing the very first Hitman: Agent 47, and that game there is also the infamous jungle missions that seem to be hated by the fans. I didn’t find it to be that bad, except for the final mission to kill some Tony Montana wannabe druglord, which i suspect is where the fame came from.
Both. Sweetheart herself is one of those "extremely spoiled girls that has entire an army of guardians [Sprout Moles] under their service and does exactly how they want and yet nothing ever satisfies them" tropes that is usually found in anime, and the castle itself is very girly-themed because of how girly and spoiled she is.
EDIT: I just want to say that, as a trivia about Sweetheart; she was originally supposed to be an optional boss in the game, but after Omocat heard how good her OST when you finally fight her after the composer finished her battle OST, Omocat made her a mandatory boss in the game and a major character in the game's story.
Yes, her battle OST (not her castle's OST) is pretty good (in fact, it's the most viewed OST in the entire Omori OST playlist in Omocat's official channel. Again, don't look up the playlist until you finished the game to avoid spoilers), but it wasn't worth suffering through all of this just for her battle OST and I SO wish if she stayed an optional boss rather than a mandatory boss + major character in the game's story.
I just wonder what the Headspace "Three Days Left" would have been like if she stayed as an optional boss, since Omocat changing Sweetheart from an optional to mandatory boss was seemingly a decision very early in the game's development.
