Driveclub feature-2

Driveclub can now run on PC via the PS4 emulator, shadPS4

In October 2024, we informed you about shadPS4 booting THE best-looking PS4 racing game, Driveclub. And today, we are happy to report that Driveclub can now run and can go in-game thanks to shadPS4Plus.

Now, as you will see, the game is nowhere close to being described as playable. There are major visual issues, so it will take a while until we are able to enjoy this racing game on PC. Still, the fact that it can go in-game is solid progress.

In this current stage, Driveclub runs with around 38FPS on an Intel Core i5 3600KF with an NVIDIA RTX 3080Ti. Yep, you read that right. shadPS4Plus is able to unlock the game, meaning that it runs above 30FPS. So, I can assume that the emulator will offer a 60FPS experience on a high-end PC once it can perfectly emulate it.

To showcase the shadPS4 progress, YT’s BrutalSam shared the following video. This will give you an idea of how the game runs right now on the latest version of shadPS4Plus. However, you should temper your expectations. As I said, it’s not playable. Nevertheless, I am excited about its progress.

Driveclub is a game I really wanted Sony to bring to PC. And since this won’t ever happen, this PS4 emulator may be the only way we can experience it on PC. It sucks but hey, it is what it is.

Speaking of PS4-only games, there has been some progress with inFamous: Second Son and The Last Guardian. Like Driveclub, though, they are nowhere close to being described as playable. On the other hand, Godzilla 2014 is in a better state as it correctly displays most of its graphics.

Overall, I’m quite happy with the progress of shadPS4. In theory, we might be able to enjoy Driveclub by the end of 2025.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

    1. Bloodborne went from no hope, to bootable, to red screen, then to playable and now it's almost a remaster in a matter of months, i don't know if it's the ShadPS4 team that is incredibly talented or the PS4 architecture that is so close to PC environment or both but i never seen such a fast progress in emulation for such a relatively new console in my entire life,.

        1. Just a warning in case you're not aware of it, Second Son has the ugly symbol of the fl󠀀ag󠀀go󠀀ts in it.

        2. There's a rumor about a remaster for Infamous: Second Son, as for the rest we have to be patient, there are PS2 games that started running properly only a couple of years ago, that won't be for today.
Personally aside from Bloodborne i want Uncharted TNDC, Gravity Rush 2 and Wipeout Omega Collection, and all the rest of course lol

  1. Alienation ❌
    Dreams ❌
    Driveclub ❌
    Godzilla 2015 (PS4 version has more content)❌
    Killzone Shadow Fall ❌
    Knack 1 ❌
    Knack 2 ❌
    Matterfall ❌
    MediEvil remake ❌
    Resogun ❌
    The Order 1886 ❌
    Ratchet and Clank 2016 ❌
Shadow of the Beast 2016 ❌
Shadow of the Colossus remake ❌
    WipEout Omega Collection ❌

    VR games:

    Blood & Truth ❌
    Bravo Team ❌
    Farpoint ❌
    Firewall Zero Hour ❌
    RIGS: Mechanized Combat League ❌
Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (different from the POS interactive movie main game) ❌

Still missing all of these games though.

  2. So I went through the trouble of googling why suddenly ShadPS4plus exists because John just couldn't be bothered to do the same:

Apparently, ShadPS4 removed support for the PKG format because it helps piracy, so ShadPS4plus just restores that support.

Since RPCS3 still accepts the PKG format, I'm not really sure why the ShadPS4 devs decided to axe it.

IMHO, stuff like that which has the potential to divide the community around a project is not a good thing, at least most of the time.

From my own experience I can tell that one of the reasons why Linux has become the greatest open-source project in history is precisely because we are able to stand on the shoulders of giants, meaning all those that were there before us…

    1. I'm guessing half the issue with piracy is the fact that it paints a massive target on the backs of these emulators. RPCS3 has a rule in their discord where they almost instantly delete your post and redirect you to the rules if you're seen to be using ISOs or other files commonly known to be pirated. If ryujinx and the other nintendo emulators did nothing but boot software tools I think there's a good chance they'd still be sitting there on github.
IIRC there are also legitimate ways to get PS3 PKG files unlike PS4 PKGs (which need to be fPKGs rather than normal pkgs).

    2. ShadPS4 removed support for the PKG format because it helps piracy

DARN! Then judging from that, these shadPS4 devs sound even more buyfags and butthurt regarding piracy than the RPCS3 devs with how they emphasize against piracy more than any other emulator devs, at least RPCS3 devs just emphasize the disclaimers for their users without implementing any anti-piracy sh󠀀it in the emulator itself.

Please inform me, but what was the last emulator that implemented anti-piracy sh󠀀it in the emulator itself (anti-piracy disclaimer pop-ups like in RPCS3 don't count)? Because honestly I don't remember any emulator that did that and I've been watching gaming news for almost 15 years now.

And yeah, I noticed too even before reading your comment that it read shadPS4plus all of a sudden even when there was no news prior to it that there is a fork of it.

Well, hope being a buyfag and thinking that game preservation ("piracy") is the source of all the evil in the world works out for them when their favorite multi-billion dollar companies (that they defend day and night in the comment sections and never even heard about them or their comments in the first place) takes all of their favorite video gaymes away from them with just a press of a button.

    3. For those interested, you can easily download all emulators in existence, including that ShadPS4 Plus, on emu-france.
Just paste in any search engine "emu-france [Consoles de salon] ShadPS4 Plus v0.8.0 A". (I get all my emulators from there, it's 100% safe. "Worst" case, Ares is considered a false positive.)

And yeah, that move from the developers is highly questionable.

    1. Yeah, I do think it is indeed a waste of resources.

But considering how many games I listed below that aren't on PC (which I know that most of these games are average at best), it's not exactly a waste, I guess?

There are much better games than these even if they weren't on PC, and having them is just luxury anyway.

    2. Actually, most emulator programmers I have talked to seemed to be quite excited about the… programming part, really.
They didn't even care that much about the games, but they were fascinated about "cracking the code", or reverse-engineering, etc. All that sort of stuff that I don't understand at all.
So, whether there are lots of exclusives or not, they don't really care.

To answer your question though, there are some interesting exclusives, including surprising ones. For example, not a lot of people know that NBA 2K14, which is considered by many as the best basketball game ever made, had "next-gen" graphics ONLY on the PS4, and not on PC.
Finally being able to play that legendary game would be cool.
