Cralon feature

First gameplay footage from Cralon, a new 3D dungeon crawler with RPG elements from ex-Piranha Bytes devs

Pithead Studio has showcased for the first time its new 3D dungeon crawler with RPG elements, Cralon. This gameplay video is from the Gamestar “Find Your Next Game” show. So, if you are a fan of Piranha Bytes’ games – or of Arx Fatalis – you should definitely check it out.

Cralon will offer a huge dungeon with seamless levels and varied environments. So, think of it as the old-school dungeon games like Arx Fatalis. The game promises to have a deep main story with side quests and twists.

Players will encounter original and bizarre creatures that can be both hostile and friendly. The game will also have fully voiced dialogues with different choices.

Cralon will feature both melee and ranged combat systems. Players will be able to inspect and collect items, and they will be able to upgrade and improve their characters. Moreover, they will be able to find recipes and craft items. Plus, the game will have numerous hidden puzzles and traps.

Do note that this gameplay footage is from what appears to be a very early build. From what I can see, animations are still rough. Moreover, you can spot numerous placeholder visuals (for example, take a look at the enemy health bar).

All in all, this gameplay footage does not represent in any way the quality of the final product. Still, it will give you a vague idea of what the devs aim to create. So, make sure to keep that in mind. This is a WIP game.

Pithead Studio has also shared some preliminary PC specs. To run the game, PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core i9-8950HK with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1080. The devs recommend an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4060 Ti.

There is currently no ETA for when the game will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop.

Enjoy!

  1. this guy left the studio because he wanted to do another elex but the studio wanted another gothic. Now he ripped of arx fatalis and ultima undeworld.

I just cant, how many of these medieval fantasy dungeon crawlers the industry thinks we can take?

    1. Uh? How many decent recent-ish 1st person ones are there? (Not isometric CRPGs or ARPGs)
Not my genre really, but i only remember Legends of Grimrock 1-2 and Bard's Tales 4 as recent ones…

  2. Ah, interesting. This genre is making an interesting comeback lately.
For those interested, check out Monomyth on Steam. It's like an unofficial sequel of Ultima Underworld. Already very promising, but not exactly the best aesthetics.
