The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered feature

First screenshots for Oblivion Remake/Remastered leaked online

Earlier today, we informed you about the imminent release of the Oblivion Remake. And hours later, the first screenshots from it have finally been leaked online. These screenshots come straight from Virtuous’ website, so yes, they are the real deal. So, let’s take a look at them.

Sadly, we only have low-resolution versions of these screenshots. While Virtuous was quick enough to disable access to them, some users were able to save the low-quality version of them. As such, we now finally know what this remake will be called. And that will be, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Virtuous has included two comparison screenshots on its website. And, as we can see, the remaster looks like a complete visual overhaul. Everything looks better, from the textures to objects and characters. Not only that, but some indoor environments look way more advanced than what we saw in the original Oblivion.

A lot of people claim that this is a faithful remaster in Unreal Engine 5. In other words, it will play like Oblivion, it will have the same gameplay, but it will look better thanks to Unreal Engine 5. And, if these early leaked screenshots are any indication, then those claims are 100% legit.

To be honest, this is the best way to remaster a game. Basically, think of it as what Bluepoint did with Demon Souls for PS5. Or with how Activision remastered the COD: Modern Warfare games. Thus, I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Regarding modding, I don’t know what will happen with the remaster. Since it may be using UE5, it should be friendly to modders. One thing is for sure, though. It won’t be compatible with the mods for the original game.

Microsoft and Bethesda will most likely release Oblivion Remastered during the week of April 21st. This means that we’ll get it sometime between April 21st and April 25th.

Enjoy the screenshots and stay tuned for more!

    1. That was about the date. Did it come out on April 3rd or 10th? No. So I stand correct. Neeeeeeeeeeext.

          1. Obviously cause I want to make fun of you, but thanks for the send off john platypus, and good luck on your dying website! 😀

  1. oh f of, this is real? Imagine remaking the worst elder of scrolls make, remake morrowind. Yes i know about skywind.

        1. I’m going with my gut feeling to say this remake will be a disaster, and if that’s the case, the Morrowind remake will be off the table.

          1. I'd say nah, not at all, they know too well that a Morrowind remake is a money maker no matter what, however badly they could botch this one. Too many people have been dreaming of a Morrowind remake for too long and it has a massive reputation to not have millions but it anyways and experience the legendary one that put the franchise on the map.

    1. 🎯 yeah, but sadly Oblivion was the one that launched them into the stratosphere in popularity and sales…

    1. The game logic and systems are rumored to still run in creation engines while graphics will be rendered using UE5 so mods should still be possible

      1. Rumors did state "no mod support planned due to Unreal Engine 5 complications." I'm inclined to believe this since that does seem realistic especially since it may even be $80.

  2. 🍿 let me grab my popcorn…

It seems to look better than i expected, but wtf with the very non-Oblivion brown filter?

Oh wait! That is Morrowind brown! Morrowind confirmed? You heard it here first! 😅

  3. I'm fine with them doing a remake (if it's good), but it's well passed time that they release the source code for the original game. They released it for Morrowind so I see no reason they can't do so for Oblivion, which is almost 20 years old now.

      1. There are mods to fix that, and there are way more reasons to hate Fallout games made by Bethesda, you can still play the classics 1 & 2, there’s nothing like these 2 games

  4. Why in the f**k is the grass brown??? Literally looks like Skyrim with its drab color palette. EW!

  5. I didn't play this in 2006. I recently played Skyrim and I love it so I wanted to play Oblivion. After days and days of trying to make the pc version work perfectly ( I did eventually, it runs perfect now, Vulkan Api + SSD + some mod fix pack = Winning ) , I tried to play this but it feels like a simpler version of Skyrim. It's not bad! I loved the music and atmosphere, but the combat was way to simple and repetitive. Same with the story. Maybe I did not play enough. I wanna give this game another chance with this remaster! I want to know why this game was / is so legendary! Also that Jeremy Soule music is like a drug and I want more!

  6. One of the most overrated games of all time, now incompatible with essential mods. I'm going to guess they want $60 for it? A gamepass sub? Is the horse armor included?

  7. skyblivion? as skyrim mod, that explains the colour drain.
Was hoping for the colour palette to be the same or something close…..
