Donkey Kong Country Returns HD feature

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is fully playable on Ryujinx

Nintendo has just released Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on Nintendo Switch and to the surprise of no one, the game is already fully playable on Ryujinx. So, by using this Nintendo Switch emulator, PC gamers can play the game with 60FPS and at Native 4K on their PC.

What’s really funny here is that Nintendo has already taken down Ryujinx. As we informed you in October 2024, Nintendo shut it down. And despite that, its last public version is still able to run this latest game.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is basically a remaster of the DKC game that came out on Nintendo Wii in 2010. It’s a great platformer. So, if you haven’t played it, I highly recommend doing so. Obviously, you’ll have to purchase it.

From what I know, there is currently no new Nintendo Switch emulator in development. Nintendo has successfully shut down both Yuzu and Ryujinx. It’s a shame but hey, it is what it is.

Rumor has it that the big “N” will reveal Nintendo Switch 2 later today. So, I’m curious to see whether it will be backward compatible with the first Nintendo Switch. If it is, we might get brand new emulators for it shortly after its launch. This is kind of exciting. It should also explain why Nintendo was so desperate to shut down Yuzu and Ryujinx.

And that is that. As I said, I’m impressed that Ryujinx can fully run this new Nintendo Switch game. You can download its latest version from this link.

As always, we won’t allow download links to ROMs. So, don’t bother sharing any of them in the Comment section. If you do, your comment will be deleted.

Have fun!

  1. Played the old 3DS version on emulator years ago. I thought that maybe it would be at least enjoyable like the SNES games.
Hated every second of it and stopped playing after 30 minutes or so.

I think it was the last Nintendo game I ever tried. Except maybe the HD version of Advance Wars 1+2. Also useless. The original games are good enough.

Shitendo is completely dead since 2 decades now.
Last games I enjoyed were on Gamecube and GBA.

    1. While I generally don't care about Nintendo, you are shutting yourself off from good games with a blanket statement like that.

Stay away from all the remakes and remasters, but there are generally good Nintendo games that offer something new and exciting every once in a while (few and far between yes, but still good).

DKC Returns HD is just a new port with some upscaling. It's the third time they are trotting this game out instead of making a new one. That's the issue. It's got nothing on the original Donkey Kong Country games.
