Genki has announced that Tokyo Xtreme Racer will hit Steam Early Access on January 23rd. Moreover, the team has shared the game’s official PC system requirements, as well as a gameplay video for it.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer is a new arcade racing game, set in a sealed-off future Tokyo. Players will compete for the fastest speed in their customized cars on the highways that weave through the city, aiming to reach the top.
The game will remain in Early Access for around four months. According to the devs, the EA version will have the story playable up until roughly the halfway mark, with a focus on “Spirit Point Battle” and car tuning features. There will be over 200 rival characters each with their own unique storylines, 50 playable cars, and over 180 kilometers of the Shuto Expressway to race upon. Player skill gains, a new feature for the franchise, will also be present in the Early Access release.
For gaming at 1080p/Low Settings, you’ll need an Intel Core i7-7700 with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. The game will also require 12GB of free disk space.
Genki recommends using an Intel Core i7-13700 with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060. With such a PC system, you will be able to run the game at 1080p/High settings. For the “Ultra” graphics settings, the devs recommend using a more powerful GPU.
Finally, you can find below the first gameplay video for this new racer. This video will give your first look at its in-game visuals. So, be sure to check it out.
It’s been a while since we got an arcade street racing game like this. So, I hope that Genki will refine its gameplay, and that they will add a variety of races to it. I also hope they offer a gripping story mode. There is a lot of potential here, so let’s hope that they will not drop the ball.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

definitely gonna be the "meh of the year" or its close contender .
It's everything I want honestly, a modern low budget PS2 game.
Why are the system requirements so high for a game that looks like it's from the ps3/360 era?
it looks better than that actually, 2015 graphics id say.
Yeah but look up the old Xtreme Racer games being run on PCSX2 emulator, they can look almost as good and they're now more than 20 years old.
I just don't see the point of this new game.
Actually, I don't even mind the outdated graphics, if only we could drive on more interesting Japanese roads. 😢
that jdm rise of the scorpion game seems to be doing it, also check out carx street.
That is the main problem with gaming these days. Devs asking for ridiculous HW for games that barely look the part. I played a modded version of NFS Underground 2 that looked just a little worse than this on an RX580 that was barely being used.
This game does not look better than NFS 2015 and it requires way more HW.
Devs just gotta stop doing coke at the job.
Exactly- f*krS just sniffing coke and jerk of each others. Theres why we Almost Never get Optimized games eaiter!

Alright, PCSX2 does improve the graphics, but still, you could say that this new Tokyo Xtreme Racer doesn't even look better than a PS2 game.
" 180 kilometers of the Shuto Expressway to race upon."
I never got why this series was popular….in japan, all you do is race in one highway and in those games everything outside the highway is invisible due to high walls.
No mention of how it looks like an NFS Underground knock off?
Damn, I couldn't even make it through the 2 min gameplay clip. Game looks like hot garbage.
I never understood the appeal of these games.
They're mostly boring straight roads, with ugly huge walls on the sides of the road…
Besides, there's already mods for this in Assetto Corsa, which are good enough for those interested. I mean, it looks even better than this game, and you have more content in the end.
This developer really should have thought twice before making this, cos it's already irrelevant for those who own Assetto Corsa.

I had this game on the dreamcast if memory serves, no need for such high specs for this.
