YouTube’s ‘ENFANT TERRIBLE’ has shared a video, showcasing ten minutes of gameplay from the Gamescom 2024 demo of Gothic 1 Remake. Since this video shows gameplay from the game’s latest build, it’s a must for all Gothic fans. So, be sure to watch it.
In Gothic 1 Remake, players will play as the Nameless Hero. You’ll need to guide this lifetime convict through a world full of wild animals, strange creatures, and dangerous criminals, all while trying to stay alive.
According to the devs, the remake will have a modernized combat system. This new combat system will take the basic premises of the original combat system to the modern age.
Almost five years ago, THQ Nordic released an early PC demo of Gothic 1 Remake. That demo was criticized by a lot of die-hard Gothic fans. So, let’s hope that the devs have taken this criticism at heart to make the necessary adjustments. There is a lot of potential here, so it will be a shame if Alkimia Interactive has not heard its fans.
Gothic 1 Remake will be using Unreal Engine 5. Although we don’t have any tech details about it, we can assume that it will take advantage of Lumen. So, if it does, you should expect high PC requirements. At least for gaming at 4K on Max Settings.
Finally, there is no ETA on when the game will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more!

the original was beter
Something is seriously off. Animations are slow and sluggish. It would be justified if they're upgradable based on agility and speed.
Welcome to old-school Euro RPG. Slow and sluggish is exactly what Gothic players are looking for. Starting players have no skill with a sword. The running animation needs a bit of work, but the rest looks great.
No one wants this to look and play like an Asian button-masher or soulslike. In reality you can't swing a sword around like a lunatic, sword combat is extremely slow and sluggish.
no gothic wasnt this slow and sluggish.
Yes it was:

even in this awful low quality gif and bad framerate you can see the swings are faster and so are the master reactions, you dont need to fool me, i played the game recently with graphics mods.
did you use spine too? it's a great mod manager for gothic 1 through 3.
i stopped using it due to how buggy it is.
I played through gothic 1 this spring, and yes it is this slow and sluggish….not that there's anything wrong with slow, and sluggish games.
the attacks are fast because they got less animation frame, its not that slow.
That is how the original game was.
and to think we evolved since then. They’re just scared to change anything because they won’t get that dough.
Haven't played the original, just seen videos of it but…
Hey! I was expecting a jankfest and it's not bad at all!! Looks like a very presentable double A!
it looks horrible actually.
No.
it looks like a unreal engine “remake” by one dude.
I don't know about that. Lost Soul Aside that's being made by one guy in unreal engine looks really good so far.
and its never coming out.
i remember seeing it all the time in the shop when looking for new games, always contemplated getting it. but i never did.
You know what this dumpster need?
FIRE!!!!!
The combat looks okay overall, but the character's walking and running animations seem a bit stiff. The sword swing at the beginning looks decent, and I imagine that as you progress—getting better weapons like an iron or steel sword and leveling up attributes like strength, stamina, and agility—the swing animation will also improve. It does give a sense of weight and strength, rather than being a weak, sloppy motion.
I like the world design; it looks immersive. However, the character models could use a bit more polish. I would definitely give this game a try. I've seen gameplay of the original Gothic from YouTubers, so I have some idea of what to expect, though I’m not fully familiar with it. These are just my impressions from the trailer.
Something I noticed at the end, (the overview part where they mentions places) the font and the style they used reminds me of New World.
the combat looks super slow.
you got to remember the better you got at one handed, and two handed fighting skill wise in gothic the faster, and the more detailed your combat chain was.
Any game that highlights items or characters is a big no for me and a big yes for homosexuals
A few observations:
God the voice acting of the main character is terrible…
Dude is reading his lines without any passion. I guess it's just a side job for him. lol
Why aren't there white characters? The whitest character looks like a dark-tanned Spaniard. It wasn't like that in the original game.
You know how they love to blackwash every character nowadays.
Well, in this case, I'd say "latinowash". lol
Textures and models look okay.
I hope we can disable vignetting, I have always hated this.
SFX and ambiance music sound pleasant.
This is not a main character.
They used random NPC just for the demo.
Not bad for a one man UE5 project for practicing your skills…what you mean its a real official game?
The combat is so slow, wtf?
I replayed Gothic 1 this year and it's as good as I remembered. For me it's the best in the series. Can't wait for this remake
A Festive Blur. This game has no soul.
