Ubisoft has released a short in-engine trailer for its upcoming AC game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubi claimed that this was a gameplay trailer but that’s as inaccurate as it can get. The trailer has mainly in-engine cut-scenes, with just a few seconds of gameplay.
Seriously, it’s laughable that the French company has listed this as a gameplay trailer. This is why I’ve decided to not include the game’s title in the headline. Because I’m not sure whether Ubi is aware of what the “gameplay” and “in-engine” terms mean.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes place in 16th-century Japan during the Azuchi-Momoyama era. In this game, you will live the intertwined stories of Naoe and Yasuke. Against the backdrop of the turbulent late Sengoku period, this duo will discover their common destiny as they usher in a new era for Japan.
The game promises to have spectacular castle towns, bustling ports, peaceful shrines, and pastoral landscapes. Ubisoft also claims that AC: Shadows will have unpredictable weather, changing seasons, and reactive environments.
It’s also worth noting that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will not require a mandatory internet connection at all times and that it will be playable in offline mode.
Ubisoft will hopefully share some proper gameplay footage later today, at the Ubisoft Forward 2024 event. So, stay tuned for more.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on November 15th.
Enjoy!

"gameplay trailer"
You said it yourself: "The trailer has mainly in-engine cut-scenes, with just a few seconds of gameplay"
When 95% of the video is cut-scenes, you don’t call it “Assassin’s Creed Shadows: First Look Gameplay Trailer”. That’s stupid.
That's not what the video is called.
The video is called:
"Assassin's Creed Shadows : premier aperçu du gameplay"
You are just getting the English auto-translation which doesn't understand the linguistic nuance.
aperçu often means "oversight", but here it means "glance" or "glimpse", so a small short glance at the gameplay
You can argue about who is responsible for the English translation, but I doubt it is Ubisoft, at least not directly. They probably let Youtube algorithms or some AI do it.

You didn't get me at all. I only pointed out that you wrote "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle gets an official 5 minute gameplay trailer", yet it only had few seconds of gameplay. You complained here about the very same thing and still wrote "gameplay trailer" there (which you already changed).
Like John said, theres very little actual gameplay here.
Seriously Unity looks way better than this and it came out literally 10 years ago.
Can't wait for the trailer where Yosuke assassinate a shogun, the gets away by blending in with a crowd of Japanese peasants!
it will be pure comedy!
gameplay comes in ubi showcase … just wait couple of hours I guess?
Hopefully we'll be able to change the appearance of characters with mods on PC. I don't want to play as samurai gangsta.
OK, I can now see how the two main characters can bring distinct play styles. Could keep it feeling more varied.
