The Wolf Among Us 2 screenshots-3

First Screenshots for the Unreal Engine 5-powered The Wolf Among Us 2

In 2022, Telltale Games officially announced The Wolf Among Us 2. Since then, though, we haven’t heard anything a lot about this game. Well, that may change as Geoff Keighley has shared the first screenshots from it, and he has stated that the game is in full production.

In 2023, Telltale revealed that The Wolf Among Us 2 will be using Unreal Engine 5. However, the following screenshots seem like what you’d expect from a UE4 title. I don’t see the benefits of UE5 here, and I don’t really know why Telltale decided to switch engines. Perhaps it’s easier to develop the game on Epic’s latest engine?

Anyway, other than these screenshots, we don’t have anything new to share. Since the game is now in production, I also don’t expect it to come out in 2024. We’re most likely looking at a 2025 or a 2026 release.

And that is that. Here is also the game’s description which Telltale shared back in 2022.

“Bigby and Snow are returning to untangle more mysteries in the much-anticipated sequel to one of Telltale’s most beloved games, The Wolf Among Us. Award-winning voice actors Adam Harrington and Erin Yvette are back to breathe life into the main characters (Bigby and Snow). The lead writer, creative/game directors, and composer of the original game are back for another trip into the dark universe of Vertigo’s Fables graphic novels in The Wolf Among Us 2.”

Enjoy the screenshots and stay tuned for more!

  1. “However, the following screenshots seem like what you’d expect from a UE4 title.”

God, at least you didn’t go on the usual “no Nanite, no Lumen” bit. Not every game needs to take advantage of everything UE5 has to offer, especially not games like these. As long as it doesn’t run like cr*p, whatever engine they use is gonna be fine.

    1. They didn’t forget about it.
They just had a bunch of contractual obligations to work on a bunch of licensed games, with pressure from the licensees.
Their is a really in-depth documentary as to what went wrong at telltale on utube. you should check it out if you’re curious

      1. It seemed more that they expanded way too much way too quickly and forgot about the series that was already in place. Instead they chose to take the money from these IPs that wanted a TellTale style game and they prioritized them instead. We got a couple Batman games, Borderlands, Game of Thrones… like 10 other games in place of a single sequel that was supposed to happen before their other ones.

But that is interesting that there is a documentary about the downfall, I’ll have to check that out. Hopefully its real accounts from ex-employees with real knowledge and not just speculation from some armchair onlooker (always gotta be careful with people on YouTube). Thanks for letting me know!

  2. I just need the writing to be on par with the first one.
Honestly couldn’t care less about the visuals.

I am however, curious to see how they’ll implement telltale’s style of game in UE5

If they do it well, we might get to see other devs aping them and I for one welcome more telltale style games.

  3. It’s cell shaded, it doesn’t matter which engine it runs on as long as performance is okay.

  4. Kind of annoyed because it feels like its been forever but if this just means that the game is going to be that much better and optimized than I can wait. There’s plenty of other good titles to play.

  5. never forget this studio went wok and went broke and some jews brought it back from the dead so it can continue to do that.

  6. The first game was great but we all need to remember that this is not the same studio anymore.
All devs that made The Walking Dead S1 and this game are no longer working at the studio.
Their last game was The Expanse and it was massively woke.

  7. Two tone shading is alright, but in this case the 2nd tone is pitch black, covers up a lot of details, more brighter dark tone would be better.
Switching to 1 tone shading, with more brighter dark tone.
