A couple of videos and screenshots have surfaced for Monolith’s canceled Batman game. Codenamed Project Apollo, these screenshots and videos show a game that had a lot of potential. So, let’s take a look at them, shall we?
From what we know, Warner Bros decided to cancel this Batman game because they only wanted one Batman game series. And, that was the Arkham series. Monolith then changed this Batman game into a Lord of the Rings one, which became Shadow of Mordor. And guess what? The canceled Batman game would’ve had the same Nemesis system we saw in Shadow of Mordor.
What’s also interesting here is that Monolith wanted to add the Batmobile in its game way before Rocksteady did. So, players could traverse the city by either gliding and swinging with the grappling hook or driving the Batmobile. In short, Monolith knew what it was doing. Plus, unlike Batman: Arkham Knight, the game wouldn’t have long battle scenes with the Batmobile.
This Batman game was set to stand out from the Arkham series by including the Batmobile, the Nemesis system, and stealth sections. The fighting style would’ve been similar to the Arkham games. And now you know why the combat in Shadow of Mordor feels so much like the Arkham games.
To be honest, I kind of get why Warner Bros decided to cancel. It sucks, no doubt about it. However, this cancelation is what gave birth to Shadow of Mordor. And I really loved Shadow of Mordor. So, I’m fine with that decision.
Since Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League ended up being pretty terrible, it’s understandable why some folks might be bummed about its cancelation. However, Warner Bros back then was different from the one we have now. Back then, most companies were still investing in single-player experiences. Plus, Monolith still made an awesome game out of it.

Those games are 20 years old. Craig Hubbard left the company over a decade ago.
The people now working at Monolith make absolute trash and are trash. They literally stole assets from Assasin’s Creed, used them in their own games and then tried to deny it when Ubisoft called both Monolith and Warner Bros out on it.
Not only did they copy art assets from Ubisoft, they stole code. Michael de Plater who previously worked at Ubisoft, was poached by Monolith, then stole code from Ubisoft right before he left, and used it for Monolith games.
Monolith is a piece of **** company.
Warner Bros is no good either(in your theory),they created Nemesis system in Shadow of War/Mordor later to patent it so nobody else use it.
