Ubisoft has launched the Open Beta phase for Skull and Bones, however, things are not looking great for this upcoming title. The game currently suffers from major server/connectivity issues. Not only that but there are issues preventing you from even accessing its main menu. This game is coming in hot, and you should stay away from it.
A lot of players are currently experiencing online issues. And, since this is an always-online game, it’s impossible to play it. That’s why we hate always-online games, and we want an Offline Mode (with bots) in all games. Not only that but we’ve been getting the following error which prevents us from even accessing the game’s menus.
This error was also present in the Closed Beta build. And, since then, Ubisoft has done NOTHING to fix it. The devs were aware of it. Or at least we informed them about it during the CB phase. So, that does not bode well for the final version which will come out in a few days.
To give you an idea, the Closed Beta phase for Skull and Bones launched in December 2023. So, Ubisoft had TWO WHOLE MONTHS to fix this issue. It did not. And that says a lot in my opinion.
Want to know what’s even funnier? Someone has created a bug thread about this issue today. As we’ve said, you CAN’T access the main menu. You can’t change the settings. There is NOTHING you can do. Yet Ubisoft suggested disabling Crossplay temporarily in the settings. What? How? You can’t access them. This is one of the worst and most useless workaround suggestions we’ve seen. So yeah, this issue will DEFINITELY be present in the final version too.
What’s also ironic is that Skull and Bones won’t be coming to Steam. As a result, players are currently unable to even contact the dev team and share their issues. After all, Ubisoft has closed its official forums so there isn’t any place to share your experience and issues. Sure thing, you can visit the game’s sub-reddit but I haven’t seen any dev commenting about the network issues. Then, we have Ubisoft’s Discord server, but my experience with it has been awful.
Let me elaborate. Back in July 2023, Ubisoft held a Closed Beta for The Crew Motorfest. The game’s beta build was a mess on NVIDIA’s RTX GPUs, and was running with 1fps no matter what the resolution or settings you were using. I’ve created a thread about it, with A LOT of other participants sharing the exact same issue. The game’s devs NEVER responded to it. This lack of communication is concerning. And I get it, this is a Beta. However, devs should be acknowledging the issues, or they should be at least responding to their beta testers. Because that’s the purpose of the beta.
Finally, let’s not forget that Skull and Bones has been in development hell. The game is coming in hot and God knows whether or not you’ll be able to even play it. Just imagine paying 70-80$, only to find out that you can’t connect to any server at all, and that you can’t play, in any way, the game you had purchased. And then publishers wonder why their game sales tank.

I gave tlou2 an decent 8/10 as a game overall,from quality standpoint and what it served as a game,as story i had some problems with other stuff,like flashback edit,pregnant lady on the field,too many saved by script moments and most of all why the F we needed to have that doggy scene from behind.

What,it’s an 8/10 game,story is not everything at game ,story may be not on everyones cup of tea,but from 22h of how much is the game,cinematics are there for showing latest in tech and skill level of designers(it’s a very well payed job).
I play games since story of a game was told at beginning and at the end trough a written text,maybe some betwwen chapters.
An example is Kickmaster,or Contra,or even Bionic Comando(written few lines and that was the cinematics back then),games were 98% game 2% story.
That is 1 reason i skip cinematics whenever i can,i don’t care,i care for technology(gameplay,art design,graphics fidelity) and fun factor while playing the games.
I never get attached to any fictional character,because they are fictional(they don’t exist)…why care?.
TLOU2 is a survival horror game,where resorces are scarce and besides zombies you have factions on your tail.
I see TLOU2 same as i see uncharted 4=Walk,loot,encounter area,explore,stealth area,loot,encounter etc.

Tlou1 had 1h and half of cinematics from total of 17h.
Also to be a movie game,it needs to be an interactive movie like The quarry or Until Dawn(where you 90% of the “experience” is to get bored and fall asleep.

Nobody,plays TLOU2 for story multiple times.
If you look on you tube most of tlou2 videos are about gameplay at hard levels in most imaginative ways,now with the roguelike mode it’s even more focused on gameplay and 0 on story.
That us why you have Replay encounters in menu,to try different aproach.
Most of TLOU2 players finished the game once for story,and later stayed for gameplay.
I recently finished the remastered(ng+ with gameplay modifiers for infinite resources,infinite ammo,infinite listen range on grounded) i focused on the game,0 for the story,skipped cutscenes,and for 10$ it was worth it,the graphics difference from ps4 base to ps5 fidelity mode(yes since i game and have the oportunity to play in fidelity above performance,as long as i have 30fps but CGI level of graphics i’m allright) is massive on a 4K TV.
Graphics matters(see top 10 list of worst and dissapointing games of Angry Joe show),almost all AAA games that were launched after TLOU2 were crap in tech terms.

I have more than 90h in TLOU2 and 60+H in TLOU1 part 1.
I stated this before and i still do this.
I never care for story in videogames,NEVER.
Ghost of Tsushima made me so f angry,because gameplay loop is Ok’ish,but cutscene for every encounter was too much.
Far Cry 3 was a good experience(cinematic wise) even Far Cry 5,but all games that have skip dialogue/cinematic have some up points from me.
I watch movies with 1.5× speed(if audio is not heavily distorted) but in general all movies,tv shows,videos on youtube i watch them in 1.25× minimum. Even music i like to up the tempo.
the last time i replay’d TLOU2 i finished entire game,with only Bow for Ellie and Crossbow for Abby on Grounded but with infinite resources and ammo as fast i could(no god mode tough).

So 30fps for me is ok’ish.
Every other game after Farcry 3(or at least,that is what I Feel,Me)after playing all but FC3,are copies of fc3(in gameplay,map objectives,overall vibe),story is what sets them appart,now i get why the term Far Cry formula exists.

Ubisoft has said a few years ago that their number one goal going forward is diversity hiring in their workforce. They even have a Diversity and Inclusion Department dedicated to achieving that goal complete with a Vice President (Raashi Sikka). I would put up the Ubisoft link to that but it’s simple enough just to Google it if you have any doubts.

I uninstalled this trash when I realized it wasn’t possible to disable the anti-aliasing. I would have at least tried the game, but I refuse to put up with temporal blur and temporal ghosting.
Ubishit is now gonna reuse the assets to remake asscreed 4 to make it more “modern audience” oriented.
I just tried this and had no problems so far. Runs great at 4k max settings with my 4070. Graphics however are not great.

Never mind the connectivity issues and bugs, the game is as boring AF and so thoroughly mediocre. They probably would’ve cancelled this mega bore about a decade ago if the Singaporean government hadn’t have invested in it.
I imagine that the teething issues with bugs and connectivity will be fixed, but this game is out in less than like a week and has been in development for about a decade. They won’t be turning this ship around at this point.
It’s a modern Western game so of course the female characters are ugly AF by design. Certainly a far cry from the Ubisoft as late as 2015, who were not scared shitless by some cat ladies with brain worms. The women in Far Cry 3 and AC Unity were hot.

I dislike if single player games force you to be online.
But this is a multiplayer game designed to be played online with other players. There is no single-player mode. So why would there be an offline mode? That’s like demanding MMO have offline modes.
I don’t like the bitter taste of cauliflower, but I don’t demand that the restaurant changes every dish with cauliflower in it, because that would be ridiculous. I recognize tastes differ and I just order a different dish. Demanding that every game designed to be played online, has an offline mode, is ridiculous. Just play a different game, no one is forcing you to play multiplayer games.
“We” do want an offline mode. We are just the people that buy the product. That this is only online with no offline support will cost them my purchase. I’ve watch this abortion of a game since Black flag wanting a sailing game without the story of black flag. Rogue did sailing even better and Odyssey was fun sailing as well. All three of those games didn’t require us to be always online. This game wont last three years and be forgotten. If it was offline i would of purchased it.
Actually Odyssey did require you to be online to get access to a lot of the content. The weekly and daily Ori quests, the two bonus quests “The Laughing Philosopher” and “Prince of Persia” plus all the Lost Tales of Greece are fed to you from their servers every time you start up the game. Also to play the Fate of Atlantis DLC the Alethia quest that opens up the DLC is server side although once you complete it you can play the DLC offline but a lot of the time the game refuses to start in offline mode because ….. the Ubisoft Connect App breaks every other update

It’s not the game, it the Ubisoft Connect App which has been a buggy piece of crapola since it was released in summer 2020. An even bigger problem is it seems their support team is clueless and can’t recreate the bug on test machines because they test the game and not the Connect App which is the actual problem. One thing that can help is turn off the overlay and the cloud saves
