Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh may be a complete mess at launch

Microids will release Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh later today. However, it appears that this new adventure game could be a complete mess at launch. Or at least that’s what its own developers hint at.

Pendulo Studios has issued a statement just a few hours before the game releases, claiming that those who play the game at launch won’t be able to fully enjoy it. Now I don’t know what the game’s issues currently are, but it should run fine on PC. Or at least its graphics are not that great from what I can see in its launch trailer. So, perhaps the game has lots of bugs?

The developers claimed that they aim to fix this situation in a promptly manner. The first major patches for the game will come out in the coming weeks.

The big question now is why Microids did not delay the game. October was a month full of new game releases. So, you’d expect that the publisher would release a polished product in order to win gamers. However, that won’t be the case here. So, what’s the point of releasing it? Why should gamers purchase a game that they already know has issues?

Pendulo Studios didn’t make it clear if these game problems happen on all systems. So, they’re not really helping themselves with that statement. And no, I don’t think this game will be as messed up as Cities Skylines 2. Right? RIGHT?

Anyway, if you were planning to purchase this Tintin game, we suggest avoiding it until you read its reviews. And if you’ve pre-ordered it then you deserve what you’ll be getting. We’ve said it multiple times. Stop pre-ordering games!

    1. Yup.

For the King II released yesterday. While the overall game is fine, it had multiplayer bugs, enemies were badly tuned, etc.

The developers came out with another one of those “apologies”, as if they somehow didn’t know what state the game was in when they launched it.

Seriously getting sick of developers releasing half-assed products and patches becoming the norm.

See, this is an example of why I like this site. The truth gets told here and sometimes people get offended by the truth but that’s life in the big city.

Taking a look at gaming mainstream media reporting it’s clear that common sense isn’t very common these days and hype is king.

    1. This was a good one, and credit where it’s due, this is not said on big sites, but on the other hand, he has also had some really dumb opinions.

      1. Dude is but a human. The fact that the lad own a gaming site doesn’t make him a genius. It’s quite normal for humans to have dumb opinions.

    2. Exactly. Thats one of the things I love about DSO – honesty and no bullshit!

John is the best. This is the only true pc gaming site without all other crap. May this be here for a long long time!

DSO in a league of it’s own!!

  2. There are so many games that have day 1 patches that remedy like 50% of issues.

So why do these games not simply delay the release by a few days.

The argument that it is publisher pressure makes absolutely no sense. No publisher is stupid enough to force a game out of the door if a day 1 patch can boost review scores.

So what is going on. I don’t get it.

    1. Games are so badly managed these days, the suits at the top no longer focus on what’s important (like having a functioning product). Instead they focus on pushing games out the door and maximising their profit so they can buy another yacht by the end of 2023.

A few years ago delaying a game would’ve been the solution for sure, but we’re way past that point.

  3. What is it that prevents them from delaying the game to address these issues? Like the new WRC game from EA…a good game, a very good game, except when it’s stuttering and you end up in a tree or house…leading to IGN giving it a 6/10 despite the reviewer saying it’s the best WRC game since Dirt 2.0 otherwise…So, why would you knowingly put out a product that will fetch poorer reviews than it otherwise would’ve.
