Looks amazing ?
I’d personally would’ve liked to see these sprites upgraded to higher quality ones, like say, to the level of Street Fighter 3 sprites. Other than that, it looks pretty solid.
Yeah I don’t want godawful “HD” sprites but they could definitely up the rez while still staying faithful and keeping that pixel look. At this point though I’m just waiting for the shoe to drop and find out that Squeenix did something to butcher it like they do all their remakes.
Yeah that’s why I used SF3 as an example. The sprites in those games were of high quality and very fluid in animation while still being pixelated. The awful “HD” sprites you’re thinking of are more like the ones in Street Fighter 2 Turbo: HD Remix. I just want them to make higher quality sprites that aren’t chibi-looking. It made sense when we had technical limits back in the early 90s, but not so much now. It’s especially jarring for games where the story is serious but the characters look like they’re about to squeal “kawaiiii!!~~” or “uuuguuuuu~~~!” at any given moment.
Also, I boycotted squeenix after they announced that they gave away something like 250K USD to organizations like BLM soon after the fentanyl floyd incident. It’s one thing when a company just virtue signals by changing their profile pic or spewing some platitudes about equality or whatever, but having confirmation that they’re using money we gave them to support these awful organizations is on a whole another level. I refuse to have my money used in such a manner and will boycott where I can. So even if this game turns out to be a great remake, I’m still not getting it. Seeing as how you’re one of our guys, I recommend you do the same. Or at least either get a second hand copy or sail the high seas.
I can’t remember the last time I bought a Queer-Eunichs game anyway. It’s all trash. I remember in the 90s and early 2000s when just seeing the word Square was enough to elicit hype and anticipation even if it was just some experimental game that would be ignored by 99% of the gaming consumers even back when it was still just turbonerds playing games. Now their desire to sell to the precise type of fa**ots that have marched their a*s into the industry acting like they owned the place as well as worrying about selling a bazillion copies of their diluted trash instead of actually making a good game was enough to make them contemptible even before they started doubling down on the stupid by supporting the Neo-Maoist revolution taking place in the West both with their financial backing of subversive organizations as you mentioned as well as their
PropagandaEthics Department helping spread the globohomo garbage. The last time they almost went bankrupt and out of business I wish they would have. But now as a company all in on ESG, I’m sure they’ll never hurt for funding now. Talk about selling your soul.
That mix of 2d sprites with 3d environments is faithful to the og ps1 version that also used 2d sprites but with pre rendered backgrounds.
Am I the only one who absolutely can’t stand anime characters anymore?
I mean, how young and “perfect” they look?
Why can’t Japanese make any rough-looking characters anymore?
I mean, I’m tired of disgusting dykes in Western games, but Japanese are the opposite of the spectrum, and it’s not much better.
Where are the NORMAL PEOPLE? lol

I’m reminded of the deal with FF12 and how Basch was originally to have the starring role until they came to the conclusion that the game wouldn’t sell in Japan because he wasn’t androgynous and effeminate enough and so Vaan was born.
I’m with you, I want to watch and play as men not boys and wannabe girls. And if I am to play as a girl, I want a feminine one with good looks and nice T&A.
