Capcom has officially announced a Special Edition for Devil May Cry 5 that will introduce Ray Tracing effects. However, this version of DMC5 will not be coming to the PC.
Instead of adding the new game modes and new graphical enhancements to the PC, Capcom will bring the Vergil DLC (which is a paid DLC) to our platform. So yeah, while we won’t get the new free stuff that will be present in the Special Edition, we will at least be able to pay for a new DLC.
It’s really ironic, especially if you consider that the PC was the first platform that supported real-time ray tracing in video-games. I guess Capcom is really trying to sell as many DMC5 units as it can. After all, there isn’t any other explanation than that.
As Capcom’s rep told Eurogamer:
“Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition is specifically being developed and optimised to benefit the system architecture and leap in processing power offered by PS5 and Xbox Series X, so we’re focusing on these platforms. At present, there are no plans to release DMC5SE on PC.”
Now as you may have guessed, this is PR nonsense and nothing more. The real reason behind this is because the PC sales of a separate Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition package would be really low. And, from the looks of it, Capcom does not want to offer the new Ray Tracing effects for free to existing owners.

Capcom has a partnership with AMD. Capcom cannot launch a ray tracing game on PC until AMD announces their ray tracing card. If Capcom announces it now, then the only platform which can actually run it now is Nvidia. AMD will feel betrayed by the announcement and will stop the partnership.

It will release later once AMD gets their ray tracing card out and is widely available. Do a Google search if you need proof: Capcom has a partnership with AMD and their Radeon gaming department. As a result Capcom cannot launch a game with ray tracing as long as their hardware partner does not have ray tracing capability. AMD will not allow it, and Capcom stands to lose a lot of money if they launch a game which currently only works on their competitor’s cards…
The exclusivity has nothing to do with Sony since, as mentioned on the game website, the game will be available at launch on Xbox Series X too. As you can imagine, Sony is not paying for a game to be released at launch on the competing console.
Like DMC:Devil May Cry Definitive Edition?
Like DMC3 SE…the PC version released a few months later. At the time of release crapcom gave the same marketing bull they did this time back in 2006
Well, from what I saw the only key differences will be Ray Tracing and the Legendary Dark Knight Mode. Vergil was already announced to be released on Steam as DLC that I think is the most important thing as him it is what makes each of the editions “special” (in all versions). Ray Tracing as always will c(r)ap the frame rate and resolutions: 4K with RT@30fps(ish), 1080p with RT@60(ish) and 1080p@120fps(ish). This just kind confirms that if the game has a 120 fps mode, it will not be 4K or even 1440p but mostly 1080p. And it’s probably the equivalent to medium/high (probably even low because Ray Tracing Effects) setting of PC to try reach close to those numbers I suppose.

Capcom is one of those companies that managed to trick gamers into thinking they’re the good guys. But go back, and you’ll see a long line of scummy decisions. This is just the latest one.

Cause i remember these same people roasted MY A$$ when i told them that RE3 will be a cash grab and all RE2 was doing was setting the tone for them to rob you blind. 1) Resident evil 7 – 8hr
2) Resident evil 2 Remake – 8 hr
3) Resident evil 3 Remake – 6 hr
4) Devil May cry 5 (this game came after 7 yrs, last was on 2013, but only – 11hr campaign) & caharging 70+ dollar
5) Village mark it it will be around – 7-10hr only (but price will be 80$ + for deluxe)
Classic Resident evil games was about 3-4 hours if you know what you are doing. Not that i care since i pirate all their games and pay zero dollars.
