There is now a DirectX 12 PC version of Super Mario 64 that you can download

Now here is something that came out of nowhere. A team of indie developers has released a native version of Super Mario 64 on the PC. This PC version uses the DirectX 12 API and you can download it right now.

Now for obvious reasons we can’t share the link of this project. Obviously, we’ll also delete comments linking to this fan-made game. After all, this unauthorized PC version falls into the piracy category. However, I’m pretty sure that most of you will be able to find it online. For what it’s worth, Super Mario 64 PC is still available for download.

This PC version of Super Mario 64 allows you to use different controllers in order to play it. Imagine that, playing a Super Mario game on the PC via an Xbox controller. And people said this day would never come.

Moreover, PC gamers can also use Reshade in order to further improve the game’s visuals. Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether Reshade Ray Tracing can improve the game’s graphics in any way.

Below you can find a video, showing Super Mario 64 running on the PC.

Enjoy!

    1. It’s the entire game, running perfectly no matter the resolution.
Surprisingly I could even let it run a 120 Star TAS no problem.

      1. Googling “4chan /v/” without quote and the first result will take you straight to the site, on which there is a visible SM64 thread that contains what you want.

Will be available for 30 min from now.

  1. if it runs natively on pc now and it’s open sourced. Then I am waiting for the definitely gonna happen ai texture pack with actual grass mods and the whole shebang make over. It will most likely happen. I am so betting on it!!! come onnn!!

  2. Until it gets raytracing (not even sure I want/need this), what is the point?
    Emulation is perfect.

      1. I’m not sure, I haven’t played that one since ages.
But well, I never had any trouble getting controllers recognized in Mupen 64 Plus.

  3. Good for someone who never played this before.
I wouldn’t waste 10 min of my time even to downlo… Wait, you said widescreen resolution support?

    1. Hmmm but wait, I think that widescreen is also possible now on certain emulators.
It’s actually one of the most exciting features of the past few years.
For example, it works almost perfectly for Gamecube with Dolphin Emulator.
For Super Nintendo, there’s Bsnes HD which also offer widescreen support, which is incredible and actually works perfectly for some games. (it’s still in progress)

      1. Good to know, I’m not into emulators cause I play too much to waste my time with old games, but it’s indeed a great piece of information you’ve provided there. Thank you.
