Microsoft has released a new set of breathtaking screenshots for Microsoft Flight Simulator. These screenshots showcase some of the game’s special graphics effects, like the Bokeh Depth of Field and Volumetric Clouds.
Now while the game does not currently support Ray Tracing, it does feature some cool reflection effects. Moreover, these screenshots show some gorgeous environments, as well as some of the planes that players can fly.
Microsoft Flight Simulator looks absolutely gorgeous, even though it’s still in an alpha stage. However, and as we’ve already reported, this game will need a high-end PC system in order to be fully enjoyed.

Alpha testers submit their screenshots to Microsoft during this Alpha period. The company then releases a select number of screenshots each and every week.

I don’t get it. Here’s the best flight simulator EVER (except for multi million dollar purpose built ones), and people are complaining about it, plus complaining about Windows 10, the Internet, spies and whatever else they can think of.
I remember flying the flight simulator for the Commodore 64. This is phenomenal in comparison.
And to the guy that doesn’t want to stream data in order to play this: Which would you prefer: a 2 petabyte download, or streaming? I’ll take streaming, thank you. I don’t have the hard drive space for the full download.
In the meantime, I’m in awe of what Microsoft and its partner has pulled off here.

Quite frankly I agree with Bumpy’s comment. Ms Flight Simulator looks like the best looking game I have ever seen. I don’t know what all the hate is about. Microsoft have said there will be some sort of offline mode. However if you want a game that almost maps the entire world on disc Microsoft have said it would take about 20,000 bluray discs. So I think you can see why they went the streaming route.
I get why people may be disappointed due to their own circumstances like data caps, but I believe a game like this would never ever have happened if they didn’t go the streaming route. Also Microsoft’s servers do alot of the graphics processing so fairly modest spec computers should also be able to run this.
Honestly is amazing that the current ideal configuration is far less than what you would need to run any FPS game which actually have far less detail.
Otherwise ray tracing it won’t make much sense as the airplanes and surrounding objects are not that reflective.
