Steam Remote Play Together now available in beta, allows you to play all local MP games over the Internet

Earlier this month, we informed you about a new feature of Steam that would allow you to play all local multiplayer games over the Internet. And today, we are happy to report that Steam Remote Play Together is available in beta.

With Remote Play Together, you can now invite Steam Friends to join your local co-op, local multiplayer, and shared/split screen games online. According to Valve, up to four players can instantly join in the fun. Moreover, only the host needs to own and install the game; additional players connect through Steam Remote Play streaming technology.

With Steam Remote Play Together you can play local multiplayer games with Steam Friends online. You can also stream video, audio, input, and voice between players. Furthermore, you can use your own controllers, or share control of the keyboard & mouse. Lastly, you can play together across PC, Mac, and Linux.

In order to start using Steam Remote Play Together, you’ll have to join Steam Beta, and then launch any of your local multiplayer games.

Have fun!

    1. They know perfectly how to do things, but they won’t because those features cost, and they wouldn’t be able to afford the 12% only cut that way.

      1. yes because the Epic store ap is more than 5 years old and it’s been selling things for a long long time. Thats where they started to sell/deploy the Unreal Engine 4 & It’s assests.

        1. The Epic store has a perfectly functional shopping cart on its website for selling Unreal Engine 4 assets. Why the game store’s side of the website doesn’t use the same thing, I don’t know, but it’s hardly an essential feature as if clicking on a buy button for each product would exhaust your poor delicate fingers. It’s just cited by idiot Steam fanboys as a deficiency because they have nothing substantial to complain about with Epic store. Just like they are f*cking hypocrites to complain about exclusive games when the overwhelming majority of games on Steam are exclusive to it.

  1. Best part about this feature is that I was streaming it to a friend whom has extremely bad internet connection so he rarely plays online (Like 8Mbps), and this feature worked amazingly even in beta.

  2. did this work with non steam game like emulator ?
edit : it doesnt work with cod ww2 even though there was local split screen ….
