Wolfenstein: Youngblood runs silky smooth in 4K/Max Settings on the PC + PC Gameplay Footage

Bethesda has lifted the review embargo for Wolfenstein: Youngblood and we can finally share our first performance impressions of it. Wolfenstein: Youngblood is powered by the id Tech 6 Engine, uses the Vulkan API, and runs silky smooth on the PC platform.

In order to capture the following 4K gameplay footage, we used an Intel i7 4930K (overclocked at 4.2Ghz) with 16GB of DDR3 RAM at 2133Mhz, NVIDIA’s RTX 2080Ti, Windows 10 64-bit and the latest versions of the GeForce drivers.

Thanks to the id Tech 6 Engine and the Vulkan API, the game scaled incredibly on all the twelve threads of our Intel i7 4930K. Needless to say that we were GPU limited at 4K/Max settings, something that will obviously please those with a bit older CPUs.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood comes with a lot of PC graphics settings to tweak. As we’ve already reported, the game does not support Ray Tracing at launch, however it does support NVIDIA’s Adaptive Shading tech.

In 4K and on Max Settings, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti was able to run the game with more than 80fps at all times. Performance was – obviously – significantly better at 1440p, though we’ll talk more about resolution scalability in our upcoming PC Performance Analysis.

Our full PC Performance Analysis, which will also feature AMD’s graphics cards, will go live – most likely – tomorrow so stay tuned for more. Until then, know that the game runs great on the PC and be sure to watch the following video that shows the PC version running on the RTX2080Ti!

  1. But I still don’t think I can meet the minimum soy requirement to get the full Wokenstein experience. Do you know how many Antifa meetups I would have to attend to get that much soy? Not to mention I would need at least 10 different genders.

These requirements are just way too high.

    1. this blonde tomboy has more balls than all devs and journalists put together, what a sad state of affairs.

      1. This meme aged poorly since Soyny California started censoring everything while Nintendo relaxed their policies.

        1. Yes and no because imagine how triggered said Switch owners may be due to Nintendo, unlike Soyny and Microshaft, not bending the knee!

    1. -underground corridors as if the maps were made in doom snapmap
      -no Bj
-Coop, babysit AI if you are playing solo
      -Levels, which means bulletspongy enemies
-weapon recoil while the last 2 games had no recoil
      -minimap
      -microtransactions with cosmetic skins

I hate modern gaming so much. Ion Fury comes out in August.

      1. “-microtransactions with cosmetic skins”

Wow that’s sad i didn’t even know that what is happening to games.

        1. That’s easy. We’re walking towards the next VG crash, and Japan is likely going to save us once again.

  2. A corridor simulator runs at 100 fps on one of the highest end GPUs. Wow! Very surprised!

    1. It’s open though, like Dishonored. Delete this comment or edit it to explain you were 100% wrong.

  3. I watched ggmanlives review

-game has very few cutscenes and its mostly grind like most coop games.

-it is designed like rage 2 and division 2 that the goal of the game is to grind to take on the big bosses, most of the consists doing missions and sidemissions to level up or the enemies you try to fight will be utter bulletsponges and will drop you in a second.

-shorter than the last 2 games

-friendly ai is trash. they cant sneak they always open fire, you cant do stealth without another
    player

-it has a hub level that you do sidequests and buy weapon upgrades with coins just like wolfenstein 2009 but no friendly npcs in the streets.

  4. RTCW, and Wolf 3D were true first-person shooters, unlike the games released these days. This franchise is kind of dead in the water. Miss the good ‘ol CD ROM days.

RTCW remains one of the best old-school FPS of all time, IMO. At least it gave birth to future first-person shooters.

    1. ill be honest i hated RTCW, weapon recoil, stamina, too many crypts and bunkers, godawful late game enemies and bosses that you cant dodge the attacks and awful enemy placement behind doors in corners when you enter a room. Exactly what you would expect from the people who made redneck rampage and kingpin life of crime. But these godawful mandatory stealth sections didnt expected that. They are even worse than soldier of fortune 2.

Also i laugh when someone says a game with recoil, sprint/stamina and aim sway/zooming out when you move with a sniper rifle is “oldschool”

        1. stamina, sniper rifle scope sway that zooms out when you move, recoil, enemy attacks you cant dodge, enemies attacking you from where you couldnt possibly see them, which is cheap.

old school fps this is not chief.

Its like the devs of redneck rampage and kingpin life of crime made a linear shooter with the same cheap enemy placement resulting cheap deaths and horrible combat/ hit detection their games are known for.

        1. “When you set this level of difficulty the enemies behaviour changes as they become more agressive and inteligent”

If you never saw something like this, then you need to play more combat games.

        1. I think the difficult level in a combat game is just about the AI difficulty.
But that’s none of my business.

  5. Being GPU bound at 4k is not exactly an achievement….It’s not indicative of impressive CPU optimizations.

  6. Easy skip, especially after Karak (acg) posted his review. Thankfully I waited to see enough before joining the impulsive ones who cant hold their wad while they scream at others for being “haters”.

Just another beloved IP tainted by slithering ESA partners pivoting more singleplayer games into co-op/mp purely for social proofing microtransactions sales. The little bit of poorly designed “game” that’s peppered on top is a decoration.

So sad to see this happening to the art form.

  7. john i’m sorry to tell you this but you are no longer my best friend because you played this game, my new best friend now is rakesh.
