A couple of days ago, Square Enix released a brand new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The game was initially unveiled at E3 2015 and it’s time today to compare its original 1997 version with the latest 2019 version, as well as the E3 2015 build with the State of Play 2019 build.
The first comparison comes from YouTube’s ‘Cycu1’ who has shared a video comparison between the 2015 and the 2019 builds of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and as we can see, there are some visual differences between them. For instance, Cloud was skinnier in the 2015 version, the three helmet lights have been changed on the Soldier unit, and Jessie’s hairstyle has been changed.
The second comparison puts the original 1997 version of Final Fantasy 7 against the latest 2019 build of the remake. Neogaf’s member ‘Flyinmunky‘ has shared the following screenshots that compare the 3D character models that were used in the 1997 and the 2017 versions, showcasing the graphical evolution of this RPG.
Square Enix has stated that it will reveal more details about this remake in June, so here is hoping that the publisher will officially reveal the actual platforms for this remake (from what we know so far, it will be coming on PS4 and perhaps on the PC after its console release).
Stay tuned for more!

pc > console 🙂
oh, also pls KEEP YOURSELF SAFE
Show me a console that hasn’t been pirated, aside from XOne which nobody cared enough to pirate.
Show me any other one. Then open a nice tall can of STFU, and dig in.
id rather play ff7 modded than this episodic thing
i thought this was cyberpunk then i looked at the emo f4g and realized it’s one of those anime fantasy games for virgins
it’s true, most gamers are virgins.
Really stupid comparison.
I don’t really see the appeal aside from the update on the 22 year old visuals. This thing is just screaming boredom, with SE’s patented “you can play the game with one button” design of FF XV smeared all over it. It’s FF XV, with a VII skin on it, and I dunno, last I checked, that XV was utter garbage.
Drooling fanboys will see past the blaring warnings I suppose, and go on to regret buying this someday, but I just couldn’t care less for this thing. Dazzling graphics, well, just aren’t that dazzling anymore in this day and age.
Does it look great graphically? Sure, you’d have to be blind to think otherwise. Does it look great gameplay wise? Well, just look at FF XV. That should tell you all you need to know. SE is just a garbage company anymore.
Oh, and episodic release can go f*** itself.
final fantasy xv its on pc, and this will be too, and prepare to pirate, of course.
I agree, too not anymore TPS gameplay will kill the hype of this game. Action gameplay for FF7 will not work in this game. Just watch..
I agree. If you’re going the “real time action” route then your combat needs to be intuitive, smooth, seamless and have variety.
There was NO combo system in XV. Every blindside, link action and skills were auto animations. The summons were a$$. The magic system was dog$hit. Only ONE strike button. I could go on.
If SE can’t get the combat right then let another studio (Team Ninja, Platnuim, Capcom or etc) do it. I have absolutely no faith in this game combat system.

It’s supposed to be for the fans of FFVII.

Agree/disagree. agree, one whole play-through would have been better. disagree, the original FFVII was in 3 parts anyways.

https://www.polygon.com/2015/12/7/9861366/final-fantasy-7-remake-will-be-bigger-than-the-original-made-in
according to old FFVII remake notes, each part will be as long as one RPG. and will contribute to a larger FFVII game. in this retrospect, each part has the potential of being at least 100 GBs worth of content. by the time the last part is complete the FFVII Saga will be 3-400 GBs.
seeing how connection speeds are not the same for everyone, it would be better for gamers to download and play the Remake one part at a time.
You mean 3 – 400 dollars. And, no. That’s why blurays were supposed to have come into existence. Make a multi disc game like, shock, FF7.
There isn’t any appeal.
This entire thing is a gigantic waste of time, money, and effort. The little girl millennials who cried for an FF7 remake were too stupid to understand what they were doing so heres what they get. A corrupted, soulless, crap tastic episodically released FF15 reskin which will probably be completely linear and lack any features of the real FF7, made by a husk of a company who hasn’t made a good FF game, and arguably any good game, since the day they merged.
I mean how stupid would you have to be to think “I want a remake and so does everyone else but all I want is the same game with better graphics./sound/controls.” and actually believe that’s what they’re going to do. SE probably lost the assets to FF7 15 years ago. They’d have to completely remake everything no matter what so they’re obviously going to make a completely different game.
Anyone who buys this is mentally disabled, for a fact. At full price anyway.
FF7 was overrated absolute garbage in the first place and so an entire generation of kiddos who never played any RPG before FF7 became obsessed with it and have been begging for a remake. Except this is literally not anything like FF7. Different combat, different everything. I say let them buy it and cry, or, buy it and act like its good.
Ahem, you could use some sunshine and rainbows in your life. You really sound like you’re on the brink here.
I dont get the appeal to FF7. Remake FF1 or FF2 (far better games) or FFTactics, by far the best FF game ever.
Someone should make a comparison with the Movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
For topic sake. and out of boredom i guess,

The older Remake Cloud was looking pretty close to Advent. but as you can see the “eyes” and “hair” exhibited a hard transition from Advent’s models. Moving forward in time. the models changed in these areas.

the hair is much softer and the eyes have proper shines now. it is a overall boost in model detail.
also checkout Cloud’s turtleneck, the Updated version has actual 3D definition, apposed to being a normal map texture (also including Dissidia NT’s Cloud) which uses a textured turtleneck

Anyways the Remake now resembles much closer to the models in the movie. The Advent Movie hair also wasn’t perfect. in some angles the hair depicted fine harder broom threads, not always soft. as depicted in this screen.

So basically the Remake features softer hair and Subsurface skin shaders that were absent in the movie.
I like how barret isn’t even black anymore.
How to come off as an authentic a** online
1.Thoroughly lubricate finger
2.Insert finger in glory hole
3.Sit comfortably on compromised hand
4.Antagonize a game on Disqus with spare hand
also adding the FFVII Remake features different lip sync for localization.

I can’t believe people still get hyped for SquareEnix garbage, given their track record over the past decade.
“This time it will be different! I’m sure of it!”
The world truly is full of stupid people.
The original game has been on PC for 21 years now. the Remake is definitely landing on PC, for sure. would have said otherwise if it were any other game. Also, the HD re-release was released on PC first.
of course it does
Is there a point to this article?
You mean a game made in 2015+ looks different/has better 3d graphics than a game released in 1997?
WHAT’S REAL ANYMORE.
Literally the worst thing I’ve ever seen, this action combat trash. I don’t even like FF7 – in fact I hate it and I wouldn’t put it in my top 10 RPGs that’s right stfuandgtfo because it’s garbage. But I love that they’re all “this is for the fans!” “We’ll respect them by completely ignoring everythign they wanted except new graphics!”
Can’t wait to play Kingdom Hearts 7
My one and only complaint is that Cloud looks less rugged and everything looks a tad too glittery, that aside, y’all a bunch of nags.
