GoldenZen and a team of modders are currently working on a fan remake of the classic GoldenEye 007 Nintendo 64 game in Unreal Engine 4, and released the first videos from it. This upcoming fan remake is called GoldenEye 25, and the following videos will give you an idea of what the team aims to achieve.
GoldenEye 25 is still in a really early phase. The first video showcases an early version of the Facility level, while the second shows the newly implemented weapon sway mechanics. The third is a behind-the-scenes video regarding the game’s dynamic music system.
Now I don’t know whether this team will be able to complete this remake of the beloved N64 shooter. From the looks of it, this remake stays true to the original version so we are curious whether the AI will be overhauled and whether all the enemy models will receive significant visual upgrades.
It will be also interesting to see whether Nintendo – who appears to own the rights for the original Nintendo 64 version of GoldenEye 007 – will shut down this project or not.
GoldenEye: Source, another total conversion mod developed using Source engine that is also based on this N64 game, is still available though it only focuses on multiplayer matches.
Enjoy!

Neat.
So tired of seeing these “fan remakes” that will get utterly nowhere.
Yes, models, textures, and lighting look better in UE4. Congratulations on showcasing the obvious.
It’s sad tho, many of these remakes would be actually very very good, if done properly and got actually finished…
Well gee then perhaps they should use that “talent” and actually create something original, rather than steal something someone else already made…Oh wait that would clearly be too hard…..Obiviously its also for attention otherwise the rocket geniuses who steal things wouldn’t want to talk about it till it was done, since now the clock is ticking till the C&D letter arrives….
Answer this simple question please. Are you drunk?
But I am!
And about to ride a bike in the dark for sure without any lights or reflective things in an area known for cops stopping bikers without such mentioned things. But who cares! On to the drinking hole or watershed or trough or whatever…
I thought so…
Three scenarios pop out at me with these things.
1) Aligns with your belief that they’re merely providing an updated game and trying to get into the limelight.
2) they’re creating an ode to a fantastic game with updated graphics, physics, etc.
3) They’re using the product to become more familiar with the engine, programming, tuning and optimizing, general game development and utilizing a familiar face that would almost guarantee feedback and help them scrutinize their own content with help from unbiased eyes.
Only a matter of time before Nintendo shuts this down
Got nothing much to share already? Nowadays we see mods and remake headline. Need fresh content yo.
Maybe visualas are looking good, but no player reflection? Delay in SFX/Shoot/Animation?
And who was holding that AK? Air? Ghost? Mehh…
Someone should remake Unreal Engine 4 in Unity.
Then port it into HL2 as a Source mod
Only a matter of time before Nintendo shuts this down
Sick of those fanmade “remakes” i see no points in those articles those things gets nowhere anyway.
only if it has 4 player SPLIT screen then it is Coldeneye!
listen Gyros, why are you making these irrelevant “unreal remake” articles?
you have a quota or something?
He’s using his platform to show that there’s demand for something like this and talent out there willing to dedicate their time – without compensation – to preserve what’s important to them and share it with a new generation. I’d do the same thing if I were in his shoes. This type of story also allows large companies that issue the C&D letters (out of obligation, mind you) to know people want this sort of thing. It’s a way to show that there’s a demand; they can gauge social/traditional media impact and decide if it’s worth looking into starting themselves.
Man, what a bunch of miserable dicks in this comment section. Seriously, I doubt any of you b*chers and complainers have the skills to do this type of work. Are your lives so horrid that you feel the need to be insufferable trolls and twits about fans paying homage to something they love? My gawd, grow the f*k up and keep your pathetic misery to yourselves!
