System Shock Remake

Alpha version of System Shock Remake available to backers, new in-game video released

Nightdive Studios has announced that an alpha version of its System Shock Remake is available to a select number of its Kickstarter backers. Also, and in order to give everyone else a glimpse at what the game currently looks like, the team has released a new in-game video that you can find below.

As Nightdive Studios noted, this video features the original textures and not the game’s final art. These textures were used in order to give the team an idea of how the levels will look, and will be re-tooled prior to its official launch. In short, these are placeholders as Nightdive is trying to recreate first all the System Shock levels.

The Adventure Alpha version of System Shock allows players to freely traverse Citadel Station, pick up items, listen to audio logs, read emails and complete the game’s objectives from start to finish. This alpha is currently available to Cortex Reaver or Citadel Crew Member tiers.

Enjoy!

  1. It’s about damn time this finally comes out in some form. Hopefully it’s actually good work after all this wait, and if not looks like we’re all waiting till System Shock 3 gets made.

    1. Yeah, I just really hope it will turn out well in the end 🙁

After playing Prey 2017 which is an incredible game I really hope Arkane Studios will work on System Shock 3. Maybe they will talk about it next year or even show the 1st trailer @ E3. You never know we might get lucky and it might be at this years Game Awards(fingers crossed).

        1. Awesome! Hope it is going well.

I only remember an interview where he said he wanted Arkane Studios to be a part of the project and that they did awesome work on Prey 2017 that too bad they where busy.

Well I am really glad the project is a go, was not sure if it got the green light.

  2. Meh. It looks like one of those fan recreations of older games in Unreal 4 engine. Hell Half Life one in UE4 actually looked great but this is like an amateur hour. The Unity demo looked just right, why the hell did they scrap all of that work and switch the engine?

    1. yeah it looks like some amateur made this on unity, also the enviroments are way too corridor like, it looks so fake.

  3. For those that probably have no idea…these textures are resembling the authentic ones from the original game from 1994 and are placeholder…They are going to make it the same way as the Unity Demo they released before.

If you take a look at details, the only thing that will stay are the doors, cameras and some props seen in this video, nothing more. (one of the developers told this to a guy in the YT video)

PS: Also read the article, it says exactly this.

    1. As they says in film school – “show, don’t tell”. Right now it looks inferior to the Unity demo.
