IGN has released a new video, showing 11 minutes of gameplay footage from the Gamescom 2017 build of BioMutant. BioMutant is a new and original open-world action RPG from the former Mad Max and Just Cause game director, Stefan Ljungqvist.
According to the publisher, BioMutant is a kung fu fable filled with fantastic creatures to discover, dangerous factions to navigate, and colorful worlds to explore with mechs, paragliders, balloons, mounts, jet skis and more.
BioMutant will come with a unique design that will let players change their character’s abilities and appearance with powerful mutations, bionic prosthetics and weapons.
Here are the game’s key features:
- A NEW TAKE ON 3rd PERSON COMBAT: The martial arts style combat system allows you maximum freedom of movement and agility while mixing shooting, melee and powers from your mutations.
- EVOLVE YOUR GAME-PLAY: You’ll be able to recode your genetic structure to change the way you look and play.
- NEXT LEVEL OF CRAFTING: Mix and match parts to create your own unique single- or double-handed slash, crush and pierce melee weapons.
- GEAR UP FOR ADVENTURE: You have full freedom when equipping your character. Not only when it comes to choosing weapons you created, but also what type of gear you wear.
- SURVIVE IN A VIBRANT OPEN WORLD: You’ll create your own adventure as you journey explore the open world and what lies beneath its surface, by foot, mech, jet-ski, air-balloon and more.
- AN UNUSUAL STORY WITH AN UNUSUAL END: A plague is ruining the land and the Tree-of-Life is bleeding death from its roots. The Tribes stand divided, in need of someone strong enough to unite them or bring them all down.
BioMutant is scheduled for a 2018 release.
Enjoy!

Hack n Slash with a repeatable pattern of baddies.
This isn’t what I expected.
Same for me 🙁
The gameplay is not just a Hack N Slash at all, go to YouTube and do a search on: Biomutant Gameplay Demo – IGN Live: Gamescom 2017
Or just go to IGN’s YouTube channel they just put up a new video on the game that is with the developer he goes in a lot of detail. After watching the video with the dev the game sounds awesome, I don’t know why they bothered with the 1st video.
[Side note] I love this site but its sort of crazy that you can not link videos in a post 🙁
seems cool. stupid name though.
A game for furies
expected more
Looks really cool.
The trailer had my hyped; the gameplay is less exciting.
So the ex dev was the one behind the run and gun part of just cause?
Well, I think it looks rad, yes its a indie game but it looks like a really solid one.
Really like everything I saw especially the clips after the main gamplay that Giant Hand mount was freaking cool! I really dig ARPG games so I will get this for sure. From the vid I really like the vibe and environment and everything it feels fresh and the combat looked good.
I do hope you can turn off some of that aid/help stuff but as I know from friends that bring their demos to game shows they always add that stuff so the games are easy to play/demo for the crowds. I am sure it will be fine.
This looks so dull.
Furry Darksiders…
hahahahha my thought exactly :p
Looks generic…
*not have*
Nope, same thing, watched it with mute.
