DayZ – New Video Shows Performance Difference Between DX9 & DX11

Bohemia Interactive has released a new video for the standalone version of DayZ, showcasing the performance difference between its DX9 and its upcoming DX11 mode. PC gamers can expect a performance boost of around 10-20fps in DX11 mode. Enjoy!

    4 years late though, DX11 better than 9, who’d have thought it?

    • 7thGuest

      Give it 4 more and the DX12 implementation could bring some more results.

      • As always 😉 first they need to learn.
        Besides DX12/Vulcan is tought too learn in their Real Low state.
        And we need DX12/Vulcan Full Hardware capable GPU (Polaris will be first)
        Now DX12 is only in 11.3 Mode, so only CPU work off-load + no bootleneck and Async Shaders for GPU’s to make additional calculation’s, so the CPU power is not a problem in new Games.

          So how many more years then?
          I’m going with a decade.

        • Daniel Anderson

          They’re releasing a new engine, it won’t be on the BI Standard. Its going to be much easier to get DX12 added. It’ll be released sooner than you think. From there, smooth sailing.

          • Edwin Obando Chacon

            LOL!! I hope you are still around here when they release DX12 support in 3 years.

  • Phoenix

    Too late , The Culling is beautiful.

  • John Mellinger

    Do people still play this game? I had it since day one and don’t even remember the last time I hit play

  • Nekrim

    Lmao, at this point they should ditch their new engine and start from scratch again with one of the Holy Trinity of engines > UE4/Cryengine/Unity

    • AMD_Afficionado

      Are there any truly great performing and looking games on Unity? From what I’ve seen, it has “earned” the reputation as being the enabler of crappy Steam Greenlight shovelware.

        Pillars of Eternity;
        Ori and the Blind Forest;
        Heartstone;
        Monument Valley;
        Cities: Skylines;
        Gang Beasts;
        Ziggurat;

        And many others. 🙂

        • AMD_Afficionado

          I’m not familiar enough with all of those titles to judge them all, though the ones I am familiar with definitely don’t fit the bill (Pillars of Eternity, Hearthstone, MV).

          • 7thGuest

            Becaaaause…?

          • AMD_Afficionado

            Because they’re not graphical powerhouses.

            Several of those titles are also quirky, “hipster” games that aren’t technological achievements. The only thing that often separates them from the mountains shovelware is the quality of the execution. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing, if the best that Unity has been used to do is so similar to the shovelware that it is so often seen enabling then its reputation as being primarily a shovelware facilitator has indeed been earned.

          • 7thGuest

            Sorry, stopped reading at “hipster”.

          • AMD_Afficionado

            You’re missing some single quotes in there 😉

            So, at the end of the day, Unity has no graphical powerhouses, no titles that show what technological marvels it can achieve as it doesn’t have a title to its name that is truly technologically superior to the shovelware that it is known for.

            That’s disappointing, and seems to me that it’ll lock them in a shovelware cycle (and easy guess to make as so far it has).

          • 7thGuest

            Good for you!

          • renz

            Unity is not really for triple A stuff. But due to it’s licensing model it was very popular among indie dev and mobile developer (many that good looking games on android and ios were powered by unity). Only recently we see more non mobile games start using unity. One of the recent example was escape from tarkov.

          • Zatara

            Escape From Tarkov is Unity-powered? Assuming it counts, since it’s still Alpha & all.

            90% of indie games are nothing but hipster games

          • 7thGuest

            99% of statements on the internet are hyperbolic and unreasonable.

          • jdwii

            Still doesn’t make the statement false hell playing some of the best rated indie games still feel that way. “a person who follows the latest trends and fashions, especially those regarded as being outside the cultural mainstream.”

            Games that are not AAA games i can argue the fact they are outside the culture mainstream. Personally i like some indie games and actually love the newer experience some of them give but i would agree they are hipster games.

          • 7thGuest

            This specific meaning (if we can call it that) of hipster is all a marketing ploy bs, stop that.
            Everyone nowadays feels this necessity of categorize, or should I say patronize, pigeon-hole, funnell, boil down everything into a broader and dissolved superficial level that taking any discussing anything seriously is almost impossible.

    ughhh….. dx11? like thats a big deal. its 2016! dx12 or bust, especially on a meme game……

    • AMD_Afficionado

      Dx12? Nah, it has to be Vulkan if they want to appeal to all the folks pre W10.

      • Yea. Screw DX 12 and W10. Vulkan all the way! 🙂

        Can’t they port DX12 to W7 -_-

      • John

        AHAHAHAHHA! Vulkan? Literally a meme…. I feel bad for poor linux losers who cant afford MS products. People like you just pirate games anyways… Your not even a real gamer if you dont support MS 100% tbh fam.

          Humble Bundle.

          “For all bundles, on average, Windows users ponied up $6.22. Mac and Linux users dispensed $8.34 and $11.05, respectively. The average Windows gamer offered roughly 11 percent less than the mean bundle sale. Meanwhile, Mac and Linux users paid 17 and 37 percent above baseline.”

          So yes idiot, Linux users will pay a lot more when needed.

  • AMD_Afficionado

    They’re just now getting to DX11?

    I wonder if they’re implementing it properly, at least.

  • DrearierSpider

    Does anyone even care about this piece of sh*t anymore?

    • Primey

      Yes

  • DrearierSpider

    Lol, comments and ratings disabled. You know things are looking bad when they’re resorting to the Anita Sarkeesian playbook.

    • Olek

      Almost all their videos have had that set. The discussion is done on their forums and subreddit.
      The videos are just there to showcase updates in development.
      How can you compare this to Sarkeesian…

  • Hippystank

    By the time this game is developed enough to be playable it wont be able to pull player base back too many new versions of the same thing already out and much more polished at this point.

  • Edwin Obando Chacon

    You know I prefer to play Unturned than this, and I have bought this s h ! t, sadly.
