Cross-Buy to be featured on Windows 10

At Microsoft’s Windows 10 event we were told that PC games purchased on the Xbox Marketplace on Windows 10 would have cross-play with their Xbox One counterparts starting with Fable Legends.

At GDC Microsoft announced that not only will those games be featuring cross-play but they will also feature cross-buying. That means if you purchase a game on your PC you will also own it Digitally on the Xbox One.

This is good news for people like myself who own both a PC and an Xbox One. I buy all of my games on PC except for exclusives which means I often miss out in playing with some of my friends.

Although this will only be if benefit if the game you are purchasing doesn’t already have cross-play, because why play it on the Xbox when you can play it on PC?

  1. Wait, You own an Xbox one? and you’re playing games on it? and posting about it on DSOG????

    I’m in a nightmare…

    1. +BIG1!
Begone we DONT want to hear crap like that, console peasant LOL!

      On another note, I myself have a PS4. Yeah I know it’s a dicgrace :/

      1. You’ve got it all wrong, peasants are people who think consoles are better then PC’s!
You could own nothing but a Wii and as long as you think PC is the best way to play games you’re not a peasant and in this article the guy says “why play it on the Xbox when you can play it on PC?” so he’s in fact not a peasant!

        1. You kids are a bunch of skinny, pink losers who jack off to computer parts. This is why PC players are stereotyped as skinny, socially awkward WOW nerds with thick glasses

          1. You do know that I based my comment on “PC master race” joke lore right?
I don’t actually differentiate anyone as a “peasant” in my book everyone’s a gamer! (Except fanboys of any kind)
So calm your horses there buddy!

      2. I bought a nice dust brick (PS4) at launch too, never again. Have 3 games, completed 1. Literally can’t be bothered with it. Only bought it for Uncharted anyway.

        1. Speaking about dust and Uncharted…I still have an Uncharted 3 copy still wrapped in cellophane that I bought on discount almost a year ago, just collecting dust near my PS3: http://i.imgur.com/3JU6frq.jpg

I bump into it from time 2 time, and I’m always like “Oh yeah! I was supposed to start this like last summer”…then steam summer sales came along…and I got distracted XD

        1. The same what said one month ago, when people were hype about the Order, now everybody knows that you can barely play on the game. 8 hours of gameplay, 6 hour of those are cinematics.
Hope Bloodborne will not dissapoint the hype of the paytoplay machine owners.

    2. Relax mate. From birth until death I will always be a PC gamer first and foremost.

I haven’t played GTA V yet because I am waiting for its PC release, but there are some games that I know will never come to PC and most of those I can miss, but there are a handful that I really want to play so in turn I purchase the system they are available on. I own 2 games for Xbox: Halo: TMCC and Sunset Overdrive. That pales in comparison to my PC library of over 250.

  2. hopefully this doesnt mean that they their games will be exclusive to windows store or something.. because i somehow cant picture buying a game on steam and owning it on a console lol

    1. GFWL2.0 is coming.
Hopefully devs grow a brain this time and choose to ‘not’ use this service and have full steam integration into their games.

  3. Just give up on the xbox one, it’s crap anyways, the PS4 as well, just stick to Pc games microsoft and we’ll have something good.

      1. Region locking, outdated hardware, retarded controls, forced exclusives… the WiiU is the epitome of console cancer, it’s only lacking paid online.

  4. Aside from all the expected ‘LOL PC SO MUCH BETTER THAN CONSOLE OLOLOL’ comments (which are true of course) this is a very… unusual move by Microsoft. Prices are going to suck, surely.

  5. I don’t care about cross buy. Let me know when they have HALO, GEARS, FH2 up for sale then i will buy it and play it on PC.

  6. The same happens on PCGAMER and RPS, the editors and writers of those magazines also have consoles. I like to think that they do that because they need to know the PC competency to see how good or bad it is. But its always kinda shocking to see how a PC GAMING exclusive magazine owner/writer has a console, sounds conflicting.
Anyways Microsoft its too late, Steam is pushing SteamOS with all and many AAA games are announced for the based linux OS.

  7. Anyways John the balance of news about windows 10 and directX12 vs SteamOS, OpenGL and Steammachines are just disturbing. Like 10-2.

  8. Valve already made their first move on Steam machine. And Microsoft is still actively promoting XBox on Windows 10? *facepalm*
