Shenmue 3 gets a Steam release announcement

After almost a year Shenmue 3 has finally received an official Steam release date. According to Ys Net, the title will be available for purchase through Steam on November 19th. That’s exactly one year since the initial release on Epic Games Store. So after a year of exclusivity Steam users will finally get their chance to play the game.

Shenmue 3 is the third, and probably the final installment in the series. This is an old-school adventure game, featuring exploration, melee combat, and a crazy amount of quick-time events. Shenmue 2 was released almost twenty years ago, and the third title became a reality by the help of the fans.

Back in 2015, Ys Net launched a Kickstarter campaing which became the fastest campaign to raise such an amount. The campaign managed to raise two million dollars in less than seven hours, and ended with over six million dollars. Shenmue 3 is the sixth highest funded campaign in Kickstarter history.

Ys Net will provide game and in-game codes for all the backers who manually selected the Steam opt-in through the September/October 2019 survey. All the applicable backers will be able to get their codes through the “Downloads and Download Codes” section.

  1. Nooo! The Queen’s Gambit is exclusive to Netflix and is not available on HBO, DSN+, Hulu, Prime, Sling, Fubo and more!! Thus I will cause an outrage on Internet forums, in other words – Reddit, and shoutboxes (where applicable)!!!

But today I’m happy for the Steam users because PC is such a closed ecosystem and Shenmue will be finally available on Steam!!!!

  2. dont buy this trash, not only its trash, it ends in a cliffhanger, what was the point of waiting all these years?

      1. i too like a game made with recycled assets that is boring as heck and has no ending after waiting all those years.

        1. No need to be so mean-spirited. Game is decent, the highlights are the earnest conversations between Ryo and Shenhua.

    1. I thought I did, but I will likely purchase this on sale all the same. I don’t care for EGS and none of their exclusives move me to use their store. Steam is tried and proven and I have a large library of games and friends on there and don’t care to switch.

  3. I hope it sells poorly, but it probably won’t, because Steam has enough stupid spineless saps using it now, than it did back in 2013.

Plenty of hardcore weebs to make any game float, even if said devs have done the customers dirty, they forgive far too easily.
