Red Dead Redemption already runs faster on Xenia than on Xbox 360 with almost perfect graphics

Last week, we informed you about Xenia, the best emulator for Xbox 360, running Red Dead Redemption. While that version of the X360 emulator was able to run the game, it was plagued by some awful vegetation glitches. Fast forward a week though and here we are with a newer version that can run the game better and has those vegetation issues fixed.

Red Dead Redemption still has some minor graphical issues on Xenia (like the flickering smoke effects) however I believe that we can all agree that it is playable. Now I don’t know whether there are any graphical issues with the later stages or whether the emulator can run the game from start to finish, however things are looking pretty good right now.

Moreover, the game already runs better on Xenia than it does on a real Xbox 360 console. Truth be told, you’ll need a really high-end system as YouTube’s ‘John GodGames Emus’ used an Intel Core i7 8700K @ 5.0 Ghz with 32GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM, however it’s the first time we see Red Dead Redemption running this smooth on any emulator (the speed on RPCS3 comes close to this however, and from what we’ve seen so far, Xenia runs the game a bit faster).

With how fast things are currently progressing, I’m almost certain that PC gamers will be able to play – either on RPCS3 or on Xenia – Red Dead Redemption before Red Dead Redemption 2 comes out on our platform.

Those interested can download the latest version of Xenia from its official website.

Enjoy!
