Half Life Classic feature

Here are 13 minutes of gameplay footage from the 1997 and 1998 beta versions of Half Life

YouTube’s ‘NeoGamer’ has shared a video, showing 13 minutes of gameplay footage from the 1997 and 1998 beta versions of the first Half Life game. As you will immediately notice, there are some noticeable differences between the version we got and the early beta builds that were showcased.

Of course this does not mean that the final product was downgraded or anything. In fact, we can easily notice some things that got severely improved (like some enemy and NPC models, the audio samples for firing a gun, the AI of the marines and more).

Still, it’s really cool witnessing these old beta builds of Valve’s classic shooter.

In related news, a team of modders is currently working on a remake of the Half-Life demo (Hal-Life: Uplink) released by Valve in early 1999 which featured content that was scrapped from the original storyline.

Enjoy!
