IGN has shared a video, showing 12 minutes from the Gamescom 2019 demo of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated. This video shows off the game’s graphics, in-game characters, and environments.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is basically a remake of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom. This remake will feature high-end visuals, modern resolutions and carefully polished gameplay. Furthermore, the remake will come with a brand new horde mode multiplayer for up to two players, online and splitscreen. Not only that, but it will also feature content that was cut from the original game like the Robo Squidward boss fight and more.
Players will be able to assume the role of SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy. By using these three characters, players will have to defeat the evil Plankton.
In this video, we can immediately notice the improved visuals of the remake. The developers have nailed the game’s atmosphere and aesthetics. Everything looks similar to the cartoon; from the environments to the characters.
There is currently no ETA yet on when the game will come out. My guess is that we may be looking at a late 2019 or a 2020 release. Still, we’ll be sure to let you know when the game will come out as soon as THQ Nordic announces a release date. Until then, enjoy the following video!
