Wow. Now this is shocking to say the least. Yesterday it was confirmed that Gamestop was opening Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s PC cases to remove the free OnLive pass that was included. Obviously, Gamestop didn’t want to promote their competition but what right did they have to actually open the cases and then sell them as brand new ones? None to be honest.
So we’d expect Square Enix to punish GameStop for their actions. Instead, the company decided to… apologize to them for this issue as the store wasn’t aware of the inclusion of a third-party coupon. Say what?
As Square Enix stated:
“As part of Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s boxed offering on PC, Square Enix included a third-party coupon. GameStop was not made aware of this inclusion and Square Enix respects the right of GameStop to have final say over the contents of products it sells and to adjust them where they see fit in accordance with their policies.”
Nice. Next time let them use the serial keys to leak the games too. To hell with that, I say let them open every damn PC box and take the serial keys to play the games for themselves and re-sell them as brand new ones. Way to go guys. No seriously, way to go!
