Resident Evil 2 Seamless HD Project is a must-have mod; upscales textures, improves FMVs & more

Back in July, we shared an overhaul mod for Resident Evil 3. And today, we are happy to report that Mathieu Philippe and his team have released a similar mod for Resident Evil 2. Resident Evil 2 Seamless HD Project improves FMVs, upscales textures via AI, and improves most of the visual effects.

Furthermore, this overhaul mod upscales 3D model textures, restores integrated text, upscales menu elements, HR portraits and more. The RE2SHDP texture pack also solves the seam issue that always comes up when any kind of filtering or upscaling is applied to the game’s mask textures.

In other words, this is a must-have mod for all Resident Evil 2 fans out there. We know that Resident Evil 2 Remake put off some gamers (even though we really loved it). As such, and if you want to re-experience the original game, we strongly suggest using this mod. After all, this is the closest we’ll ever get to a proper remaster of Resident Evil 2.

However, we should note that this overhaul mod is for the GameCube version of RE2. Therefore, PC gamers will have to use an emulator – like Dolphin – in order to enjoy these new visuals.

RE2SHDP was created with the US (NTSC) version in mind. However, this pack can also work with the game’s PAL version. All you have to do is rename the folder “*dolphin_path*\User\Load\Textures\GHAE08” to “GHAP08”.

You can download Resident Evil 2 Seamless HD Project from here. The pack also comes along a custom version of Dolphin (though it does not contain any ISO). All you have to do is to extract the Zip file, open Dolphin.exe, select the folder containing your game ISO, configure the controller if needed and play.

Have fun everyone!
