New Details Unveiled For Bungie’s Destiny – Storyline, Leaked Concept Arts

IGN has revealed some brand new details – and concept arts – for Bungie’s follow-up to the Halo franchise, Destiny. Contrary to Halo, Destiny aims to please a lot of young gamers, and will feature a big world to explore with friends. Bungie’s co-founder Jason Jones described the game as a title that will feel like a mythic adventure and a game that is designed for our inner seven year old.
As for the game’s story, according to the document provided to IGN:
“Our story begins seven hundred years from now in the Last City on Earth, in a Solar System littered with the ruins of man’s Golden Age. A massive, mysterious alien ship hangs overhead like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it’s here for, but only that it’s our protector. Meanwhile, strange, alien monsters creep in from the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and the Last City. We are young ‘knights’ tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters and – eventually – overcoming it.”
IGN has also posted a large number of leaked concept arts, so be sure to check them out. Bungie, on the other hand, has officially shared a new image that can be viewed below.
One of IGN’s leaked images features Destiny’s logo along with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 icons. Unfortunately though, that image does not feature any PC icon. It was said – back in May – that a PC version would be released after the release of the X360 and X720 versions.
Destiny will see four games that are slated for release in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019, as well as four downloadable expansion packs that are planned for 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020 respectively. The expansion packs will be called Comets.
Enjoy!
