PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS feature 3

Free to play version of the battle royale game, PUBG, is currently in beta testing

PUBG Corporation has announced that a free to play version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, PUBG Lite, is currently in beta testing. Unfortunately, though, this beta testing is exclusive for a limited time to Thailand and it will help the team determine if this is a viable product for other regions.

What this basically means is that there is a chance we may never see PUBG Lite in other regions. Sounds crazy that the team will develop a F2P version exclusive to Thailand but that may happen.

But anyway, PUBG Lite is described as a standalone product from the core PUBG game that will have its own dedicated dev team that will create exclusive content and quality of life features while also adding maps and content familiar to PUBG players.

The goal of PUBG Lite, other than offering a free to play version of PUBG, is to deliver the PUBG experience to players in areas where the core game’s required specifications are more difficult to achieve due to the hardware available.

In PUBG Lite, players will be able to play Solo/Duo/Squad in TPP mode and there is currently one map. Erangel is a fictional island located in the black sea and contains varied environments such as a nuclear power plant, submerged city, swamp, mountain areas and many more.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted about this free to play version of PUBG, so stay tuned for more!
