EIDOS Montreal: Thief PC Won’t Be A Copy Of The Console Version

Thief 4
In an interview with StrategyInformer, EIDOS Montreal’s Stephane Roy revealed that the PC version of the upcoming Thief game won’t be a mere port or a copy of its console brother. According to Roy, the PC plays entirely different – thanks to its keyboard + mouse combo – and EIDOS Montreal will do its best to support this particular control scheme.
As Roy said:
“No doubt on our side the PC version is extremely important,” Roy said. “Just playing Thief with a keyboard and mouse it’s different so we must make sure we support that well. For making the PC version we think like a PC gamer, for consoles it’s a different type of beast. It’s one of our goals to make sure that the PC version isn’t just a copy of the console version.”
What’s interesting here is that Roy did not reveal whether EIDOS Montreal is working with Nixxes for the PC version of Thief. Nixxes was the studio behind – pretty much every – Square Enix title these past years, such as Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Hitman: Absolution and Tomb Raider.
Roy did not also reveal whether the PC version would be getting any additional graphical features, suggesting that all versions will look identical. Whether that is a good thing or not remains to be seen.
Thief is planned for a 2014 release on PC, PS4 and other next-generation platforms!
