Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs will be filled with more terror, horror and paranoia than Amnesia: The Dark Descent

In a recent interview with Joystiq, Frictinal Games and The Chinese Room revealed what most of us were suspecting all this time. The two companies are joining forces for the next Amnesia title called ‘Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs’. This new Amnesia game is funded by Frictional Games, developed by The Chinese Room, and will be released some time before this year’s Halloween. But that’s not important. What’s really interesting here is that Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs will be filled with more terror, horror and paranoia. In other words, you’ll once again scream like a little girl and perhaps squeeze… like a pig.
Frictional Games designer Thomas Grip revealed that the new Amnesia game will feature some changes the gameplay to keep things fresh for veterans, however it follows the same terror-inducing principles as the first one. And given Frictional Games’ record, we can safely asume that the new Amnesia will be as atmospheric as it can get.
On the other hand, Dan Pinchbeck of The Chinese Room said that he was delighted to see those who have heard the name getting confused, or even disturbed by it:
“That’s exactly the response I wanted.”
Pinchbeck explained that The Chinese Room tried to look at protecting the sense of it being an Amnesia game and really belonging to the design template that was set up by its predecessor. However – and as hinted by Grip – it’s doing quite a few things that mean players won’t be able to play it like Amnesia. Interesting.
Pinchbeck concluded that he will be really disappointed if they don’t get as many cool YouTube videos of people having fits – with this new Amnesia game – as they did with Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
Everything sounds good here and we can’t wait to see what both The Chinese Room and Frictional Games have in store for us. Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs will be a PC exclusive title.
Bring the horror guys, we’ll gladly welcome and embrace it!
