AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition runs Crysis 3 with an average of 46fps at 1440p on Very High Settings

YouTube’s ‘DudeRandom84’ got his hands on an AMD Radeon Frontier Edition and decided to put Crysis 3 to the test. DudeRandom84 used the game’s Very High settings at 1440p with 2xMSAA, and the AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Eition was simply unable to offer an optimal gaming experience.

DudeRandom84 got an average of 46fps, and in some scenes the framerate dropped below 35fps. Of course we do have to note that AMD needs to further optimize its drivers as GPU usage was dropping in some scenes, resulting in an underwhelming performance. Still, do not expect miracles as in other scenes, the GPU was used to its fullest and was running the game with 38fps.

Naturally, NVIDIA’s GTX1080Ti offers a better gaming experience, and we don’t expect the consumer version of the Vega graphics cards, the Radeon RX Vega, to be able to compete with it. As we’ve already said, AMD’s Radeon RX Vega will most likely be somewhere between the GTX1080Ti and the GTX1080.

It’s also worth noting that DudeRandom84 used an Intel i7 Kaby Lake 7700K, so most probably there weren’t any CPU limitations during these tests.

AMD will release the consumer/gaming variant of Vega at the end of July, so stay tuned for more!
