Star Citizen Alpha 2.0 Version

Star Citizen – New Video Shows Updated EVA Transitions

Cloud Imperium has released a new video, showcasing the three-stage EVA (Extra-Vehicular Activity) transitions of Star Citizen. Star Citizen seems to have a lot of potential, so here is hoping that Cloud Imperium will deliver on its promises. Enjoy!

  • Psionicinversion

The new EVA enhancements and ragdoll look amazing… Hope these new HDR monitors come this year and they don’t cost an arm and a leg so star citizen can light up like the real universe

  • Umair Khan

Glad they finally got rid of old clunky animations. This is huge improvement.

  • Jonny

Looks amazing. Can’t wait for my Rift and for them to implement proper VR support. It’s gonna be insane.

  • Maxim Pawleen

Animation is very nice when he falls and gets up. Attention to fine details. Been waiting forever for this game. Last patch made the game much more playable in crowded areas (social module). Not only can we see the progress via patch notes BUT we can feel it too, that’s what keeps me in this process. Most early games access on steam feel left alone and “not worked on”.

  • Séamus Bradd

Hope they fix some of the buggy ship transitions soon. I’m getting kind of weary of continually being flung out the side of my Mustang when I try and board it :/

    • Jonny

That’s a feature. They don’t call it Mustang for nothing.

    • Psionicinversion

i very rarely fall out of the ships. im running on SSD and i think my connection is fairly low latency seeing as it has to go from uk to north america and back. Getting kicked out happens when all your data doesnt fully load into the local physics grid of the ship so the game throws a wobbler and you fall through or get kicked out.

  • Daniel Anderson

    DX12 status plz.

    • Psionicinversion

      No where near ready

    • WrATH

Chris said next year, they are doing DX12 properly and slowly working on it. He said this in an interview with Gamers Nexus.

      • Psionicinversion

your wrong on that. He mentioned they were working on dx12 about last november to be ready this year but in a 10 for the chairman a few weeks ago sounds like they havnt even started and he said there deciding between dx12 and vulkan

        • WrATH

“Speaking to Vulkan and DirectX 12 support, Roberts tells us that “the roadmap is Dx12 first,” further educating us on the process behind the process of supporting a new API:”

“That’s what we’re doing – we’re saying, ‘we’re gonna do it right so that we’ll really get the performance gains.’ That’s one of the things that the German office is leading on, because we’ve got some of the engineers who built the engine in the first place and were involved in the various Dx9 and Dx11 implementations of CryEngine.”

          • Psionicinversion

that means absolutely nothing. They keep changing the goal posts so much nothing is set in stone. He mentioned about doing vulkan first because of support of other platforms.

Until its actually released i wouldnt even bother listening to it. I get confused with him unless hes confused himself. Technically speaking if they were working on DX12 last year like he said it would be implemented around now but its not. I doubt it will even be ready for squadron 42 tbh

          • WrATH

Well that’s part of the development process.

            What Chris knows about DX12/Vulkan:

“Chris Roberts: A little bit. I think our roadmap is Dx12 first, so that’s kind of what our focus is. But the refactoring the low-end of the engine [for Dx12] will [also] work for Vulkan”

          • Psionicinversion

yeah i know its easy to port between dx12 and vulkan it just depends what they do first.

Give me the link to what your copy and pasting from because that sounds very reminiscent to a long interview GN did sometime last year with roberts

          • WrATH

Search “Gamers nexus Star citizen DX12”

          • Psionicinversion

did do found it, its from 29th septembr 2015. You shouldnt link to old information because if you followed star citizen properly that information is null and void now

          • WrATH

Well, it’s still relevant because they are going to be doing DX12/Vulkan, I don’t see why the users should be concerned with the difference because it’s mostly transparent the user anyway, both are very similar.

          • Psionicinversion

yeah its irrelevant but youve made it sound like there adding in dx12 in 2017 when you copied and pasted that stuff, without the initial date when it was posted it could be any time. Anyway this is what the man himself said about it… remove the space

            https://youtu. be/ciCNkp20O7w?t=19m46s

          • WrATH

It may well be 2017, there is no firm date on DX12/Vulkan.

          • Psionicinversion

no there isnt but you still posted information that was wrong. I think theyve still got to much engine work to be done yet to even bother with dx12 and vulkan for quite a while. The game has to be built for dx11 anyway for all the neanderthals out there and so that it can run reasonably well untill they put that in. They can always DX12/vulkanise it down the road by just increasing detail without worrying about drawcalls and adding tons of lights and just going nuts on it so its no big deal yet

          • WrATH

The information is not wrong, it’s just older info, DX12/Vulkan is not in SC yet and it’s 7 months since those quotes, in effect, nothing has changed.

          • Psionicinversion

7 months is a very long time in SC.

anyway i was watching a 10 for the developers and one of the ships modellers was on it and he was talking about how he had a ship he did work on have fold out wings and other stuff popping out all over the place (think it was the constellations snub fighter) and said it looked absolutely amazing. But he had to take all that stuff out because it used to many draw calls. Thats the main limit of DX11, drawcalls… if they did vulkan first it could run everything, win 7,8.1,10, Linux, steamOS even Mac and they could ditch dx11 permanently and not have to worry about platforms not being to run the game but could then add in tons more cool stuff sooner

          • Psionicinversion

nvm got it, found it in 5 seconds. You do know that was from 29th september 2015… which means next year is 2016 and stuff has changed since then. With Star Citizen that information is from the stone age, tons and tons can happen between then and now

            http://www.gamersnexus . net/gg/2114-chris-roberts-star-citizen-on-dx12-vulkan-and-tech

      • Daniel Anderson

I remember seeing that. But I’d love to see some articles with using whatever they implemented whenever its ready. Don’t get me wrong, star citizen alone is awesome and all, but the fact that this has the potential to give some major performance boosts on the CPU side is very exciting considering the scope of what can be done with this type of game. Once DX12 becomes mainstream they can focus on things to really use that efficiency.

      • Maxim Pawleen

What’s good about Cloud Imperium is that they’re taking their time and do not release a rushed product like manyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy devs out there …

        coughh coughh….

        Quantum break
        Gears of wars
        Mortal Kombat X

        ULLLLLTRAAAA COUGHHH

        BATMAN ARKHAM KNIGHT

  • That is a very smooth transition. I really like this as the new EVA will make a huge improvement to the overall gameplay experience.

  • Warrior88

That level of detail is just mind-numbing! Ridiculous!
Star Citizen is in a league of its own!
