Here is your first look at the remastered version of BioShock

2K Games has released a new trailer, showcasing the remastered version of the first BioShock game. BioShock has been remastered for current-gen platforms and is part of the BioShock: The Collection. This collection includes all three BioShock games, complete with all single-player DLC and a never-before-seen video series with commentary from Ken Levine. Enjoy!

    I was waiting for the remastered graphics to show… and then the video ended.

    I mean… I really thought those were original low-res textures.

        That may be a factor but the bad quality of graphics is visible even there.

        By the way, it’s ridiculous that they recorded an official trailer at laughable 720p.

    I’m playing it atm, and I can say, it looks a *bit* better.
    Which isn’t saying much.
    Tweaking a Reshade profile also does.

    What I really want is a better gunplay. I’m struggling to enjoy the game because of that.

      Guns in bioshock? It’s all about the plasmids.

        Meh.
        Some of them are cool, others are just dull and with the right upgrades it just breaks the game. Also, I want to know who was the dummy who thought that having the Chemical Thrower and the plasmids that do basically the same thing. :v

          The game is already broken, in terms of being too easy. There’s not really a penalty for dying.

          I wonder why there are guns in the Bioshock games as, plot wise, they don’t make sense where people can kill each other with their minds.

            Yep, but even with the vita chambers disabled (and one setting I didn’t notice the other times I’ve played, the plasmids auto aim) the game still feels trivial and the guns lacking that “oomph”.
            I’m insisting, I tried this game a lot of times but after hearing a couple of my shortcomings sorted out, I’m giving it another go and I’m finding *some* of the appeal people praise it for, but oh my, how I wish this game was plasmids & melee only. Hoping that the remaster improves it.

            and playing it on hard makes every enemy a bullet sponge and you spam the medkit button.

            Lets be honest bioshock 2 has better gameplay.

          Fun thing I have to share: when I played the first BioShock, I discovered you could aim down sights… near the end of the game.
          Fortunately, it feels very choppy (a bad console port, apparently).

    I originally played this through on the Xbox 360 and this barely looks any better.

    • Its the same actually, i saw a comparison video.. at best? Better textures and 1-2 changed things per map.

        it does have better geometry…that’s got to count for something…

      Looked better to me.

      perhaps it was the 720p yt compressed video. But it’s obvious they’ve done some work on it.

        The remastered Skyrim is much better than this, at least it has a whole new lighting system.

    So what departments of the graphics are remastered/enhanced? Anyone knows?

      If memory serves, geometry, lighting, post process effects, some shaders, textures.
      There was some “leaked” comparison shots on Gematsu(IIRC), a couple of months ago.

      The departments of Ken levine bullshting us for 20 minutes straight in commentaries about gameplay features that are not in the actual game.

    well there is not a whole they they could do with the game. goping UE4 would have been nice and welcome but instead they are just bringing the pc version to consoles with 60fps and for us pc gamers we will get the same game with some better lighting and higher resolution shadows. the textures really wont get much better because of the engine and UE3

    but all that being said they are giving it to us for free if we already own the orgionals of 1&2 so even if the changes are minimal ill take it since free is free. but you can always go into nvidia inspector and enable 16x AF and 4XSSAA and it does make the game look pretty awesome and in 4k still looks better than some games coming out these days

      Yup.

      Not sure why they felt the need to release a 720p video. They do realize that most people will be playing it at 4-5 times that resolution.

    NO MP OF BIOSHOCK 2?!?!?!! AHAHHAHAHHAAHA! Probably the last truly fun MP of last gen alongside gears 2. Everything else the last 10 years MP online is trash. Day 1 never pirate….

    • My initial response is that I like the old (bottom) version better. It’s more menacing. The remaster changes the tone of the scene.

    They barely changed anything visually…
    I hope they added support for wider screen resolution and an FOV slider for Bioshock 1 & 2.
