Guru3D’s member ‘pusscifer’ has stumbled upon a really interesting video fromย Obsidian’s cancelled Aliens RPG game. This video was uploaded Danny Garnett who has worked on Obsidian’s title and did some animations for the xenomorphs. This animation reel looks really cool, and that cancelled Aliens game was meant to be called Aliens: Crucible. Too bad that SEGA has cancelled it though. But anyway, enjoy the video after the jump!
God damn it, why did this have to surface? I’m still stinging from the cancellation ๐

We could’ve had an awesome Obsidian-made Aliens RPG, instead we get a pile of shit called Colonial Marines. Good job Sega, you sure made the right choice in choosing which one to cancel! Fucking morons.

You also could have got something unfinished like KOTOR 2, or barely able to run like NeverWinter Nights 2. Or you might have got a game with a poor rendering engine like Alpha Protocol. As much as I loved fallout new vegas it was still a ridiculous bug fest. Obsidian is not above shipping very flawed products.
Yes, Obsidian games are buggy (FONV is no different) – they’re very flawed… but they’re also all very flawed GEMS. KoTOR2 was very much finished, it was only missing a few side areas and the rest of the game was magnificent. Modders have since fixed what was missing and/or broken. Neverwinter Nights 2 is spectacular, positively leaps and bounds above the previous title, the only issues were the horrible system requirements that – even today – are too high too sustain 60 if you enable all the high-res shadowing. Alpha Protocol has a broken engine, that is indeed true, it takes a lot of INI tweaking to make up for half the crappy settings they shipped it with — but once that’s done, it too is golden ๐

Alpha protocol is not golden, the game is made by picking irrelevant characters and situations and glue them together for choice making. Just wanted to say that. Still your choices have more impact than mass effect.
Fallout NV, all patches, still encontered gamestoping bugs. Yup i agree with the other 2 as well. Where is the ending in kotor 2? seriously wtf? 40 hours game, where is the ending?

Oh yes because obsidian never makes mediocre unpolished unfinished games.
IMO, Alpha Protocol is a masterpiece of a game, it just had some technical issues – the majority of which were fixed with simple INI tweaking. As for memory leaks, I never had any of that ๐
